This study was done to evaluate reproductive potential of male mice following
early exposure to dimethoate. Thirty-six Swiss albino male mice were divided
into three groups of twelve mice each: first group injected intraperitoneally with
distilled
water, and used as a control group, while second and third groups injected
with dimethoate at doses of 0.1 and 0.2 ml dimethoate/100 ml distilled water,
respectively for 7 days. At the end of experiment, the mice were weighed and then
were killed. Testis and epididymis weights were recorded, sperm parameters were
evaluated.
The study was carried out in Al-Assad University Hospital in Lattakia in surgery
department for a period of two years (2014 – 2016). There were 52 patients with 104
undescended testises , their ages were between (6 months -5 years) .The objects of
this
study were as following:
1- study the result of treatment of B-HCG for bilateral cryptorchidism.
2- Study the optimal age for the application of hormonal treatment with B HCG .
Ultrasound (US) was done to 39 patients (75%) to find the abnormalities of urinary
tract, and the results were negative. The mean age was 2,5 . There were 29 patients (55.77
%) who were less than 2 years of age. Patients were followed for six months .
There was success after six months of treatment 34,61 % of the total sample for
bilateral cryptorchidism , 13,64 % of the total sample for one side .
if treatment was early , the success rate would be better .
the preferred age for treatment of B Hcg is less than 2 years of age .
Increasing dose of Mithotrexate (25, 50, 100, 150, 200 mg/kg) were tested on Swiss
strain mouse by one intramuscular injection, and their effects were studied (15) days later.
The mean values of total spermatogonia and those of them undergoing mito
tic
division (in the metaphase) were evaluated in seminiferous tubular cross section, and the
mitotic index (MI) of the spermatogonia was also calculated.
Statistical analysis was performed by using IBM-Spss 19 program and for mean
values comparison (one way ANOVA: post Hos Test, Multiple Comparison, and Tukey
HSD) was used, while mitotic index was calculated by using Target Variable.
Our results showed that Methotrexate injection didn’t lead to a significant decrease
in spermatogonia mean values in the tested animals compared to the control, while it led to
a dose dependent gradual decrease in the mean values of the spermatogonia undergoing
mitotic division , and the greatest reduction was noticed in the two high doses: 150, 200,
mg/kg (7.10±9.4, 3.65±2.15 respectively) compared to the control (37.40±2.26), and which
led also to a severe reduction in the mitotic index (20.53%, 6.36% in the doses: 100, 200
mg/kg respectively) compared to the control (61.79%).
Treatment of the cryptorchid testicle is justified due to the increased risk of
infertility and malignancy as well as the risk of testicular trauma and torsion and psychological stigma on
patients and their parents. Approximately 20% of cryptorchid
testicles are nonpalpable. Many
Radiological methods in addition to surgical exploration have been used to localize the non-palpable testis.
In these cases, the laparoscopic technique is a usefull method for diagnosis and treatment.
