Bose-Einstein correlations of charged kaons were measured near mid-rapidity in central Pb+Pb collisions at 158 A$cdot$GeV by the NA49 experiment at the CERN SPS. Source radii were extracted using the Yano-Koonin-Podgoretsky and Bertsch-Pratt parameterizations. The results are compared to published pion data. The measured $m_perp$ dependence for kaons and pions is consistent with collective transverse expansion of the source and a freeze-out time of about 9.5 $fm$.

First results on the measurement of localized fluctuations in the multiplicity of charged particles and photons produced in central 158 A GeV Pb+Pb collisions are presented. The charged versus neutral correlations in common phase space regions of var ying azimuthal size are analyzed by two different methods. The measured results are compared to those from simulations and to those from different types of mixed events. The comparison indicates the presence of non-statistical fluctuations in both charged particle and photon multiplicities in limited azimuthal regions. However, no correlated charge-neutral fluctuations are observed.

Measurements of HBT correlations and event-by-event fluctuations of mean pT and the net charge in Pb-Au collisions at 40, 80, and 158 AGeV/c are presented. From comparisons of HBT radii measured from AGS to RHIC energies, a universal mean free path of pions at the thermal freeze-out of about 1 fm is derived. Non-statistical mean pT fluctuations of about 0.7 % are measured, which are somewhat smaller than fluctuations at RHIC. No indication for the QCD critical point is observed. Fluctuations of the net charge are reproduced by RQMD and URQMD models, but significantly larger than prediction in equilibrated QGP.
Results are presented on hyperon and antihyperon production in Pb-Pb, pPb and pBe collisions at 158 GeV/c per nucleon. Lambda, Xi and Omega yields have been measured at central rapidity and medium transverse momentum as functions of the centrality of the collision. Comparing the yields in Pb-Pb to those in pBe interactions, strangeness enhancement is observed. The enhancement increases with the centrality and with the strangeness content of the hyperons, reaching a factor of about 20 for the Omega in the central Pb-Pb collisions.

The momentum correlation between protons and lambda particles emitted from central Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt(s_{NN}) = 17.3 GeV was studied by the NA49 experiment at the CERN SPS. A clear enhancement is observed for small relative momenta (q_{inv} < 0 .2 GeV). By fitting a theoretical model, which uses the strong interaction between the proton and the lambda in a given pair, to the measured data a value for the effective source size is deduced. Assuming a static Gaussian source distribution we derive an effective radius parameter of R_G = 3.02 pm 0.20$(stat.)^{+0.44}_{-0.16}(syst.) fm.
Event-by-event fluctuations of mean pt and net charge in 40, 80, and 158 AGeV/c Pb+Au collisions are presented. The observed dynamical mean pt fluctuations in central events of about 1 % are very similar to results from RHIC. The centrality dependenc e of mean pt fluctuations at 158 AGeV/c shows a peculiar non-monotonic pattern with respect to the extrapolation from the fluctuations measured in p+p collisions. Dynamical net charge fluctuations smaller than the charge conservation limit are observed. After correction for charge conservation, the measured fluctuation signal in central events is comparable to RHIC results.
