We investigate heavy-quark production as a function of the rapidity interval between two heavy quarks in hadronic collisions. We compare the results relevant to bottom production at the Tevatron and at LHC, obtained using exact leading-order and NLO pQCD production, as well as the contribution of the 4b channel with and without the addition of BFKL gluon radiation.

In ongoing and upcoming hadron collider experiments, top quark physics will play an important role in testing the Standard Model and its possible extensions. In this work we present analytic results for the differential cross sections of top quark pa ir production in hadronic collisions at next-to-leading order in the QCD coupling, keeping the full dependence on the spins of the top quarks. These results are combined with the corresponding next-to-leading order results for the decay of polarized top quarks into dilepton, lepton plus jets, and all jets final states. As an application we predict double differential angular distributions which are due to the QCD-induced top quark spin correlations in the intermediate state. In addition to the analytic results, we give numerical results in terms of fit functions that can easily be used in an experimental analysis.

We examine, as model-independently as possible, the production of bileptons at hadron colliders. When a particular model is necessary or useful, we choose the 3-3-1 model. We consider a variety of processes: q anti-q -> Y^{++} Y^{--}, u anti-d -> Y^{ ++} Y^{-}, anti-u d -> Y^+ Y^{--}, q anti-q -> Y^{++} e^{-} e^{-}, q anti-q -> phi^{++} phi^{--}, u anti-d -> -> phi^{++} phi^{-}, and anti-u d -> phi^{+} phi^{--}, where Y and phi are vector and scalar bileptons, respectively. Given the present low-energy constraints, we find that at the Tevatron, vector bileptons are unobservable, while light scalar bileptons (M_phi <= 300 GeV) are just barely observable. At the LHC, the reach is extended considerably: vector bileptons of mass M_Y <= 1 TeV are observable, as are scalar bileptons of mass M_phi <= 850 GeV.
We present a method to compute off-shell effects for processes involving resonant particles at hadron colliders with the possibility to include realistic cuts on the decay products. The method is based on an effective theory approach to unstable part icle production and, as an example, is applied to t-channel single top production at the LHC.

I report on a calculation of the inclusive Higgs boson production cross section at hadron colliders at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD. The result is computed as an expansion about the threshold region. By continuing the expansion to very high o rder, we map the result onto basis functions and obtain the result in closed analytic form.
We investigate the production of highly energetic top-quark pairs at hadron colliders, focusing on the case where the invariant mass of the pair is much larger than the mass of the top quark. In particular, we set up a factorization formalism appropr iate for describing the differential partonic cross section in the double soft and small-mass limit, and explain how to resum simultaneously logarithmic corrections arising from soft gluon emission and from the ratio of the pair-invariant mass to that of the top quark to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. We explore the implications of our results on approximate next-to-next-to-leading order formulas for the differential cross section in the soft limit, pointing out that they offer a simplified calculational procedure for determining the currently unknown delta-function terms in the limit of high invariant mass.
