Novel hysteretic effects are reported in magneto-transport experiments on lateral quantum devices. The effects are characterized by two vastly different relaxation times (minutes and days). It is shown that the observed phenomena are related to long-lived eddy currents. This is confirmed by torsion-balance magnetometry measurements of the same 2-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) material. These observations show that the induced quantum Hall potential at the edges of the 2DEG reservoirs influences transport through the devices, and have important consequences for the magneto-transport of all lateral quantum devices.

We study the influence of the phase relaxation process on Hall resistance and spin Hall current of a mesoscopic two-dimensional (2D) four-terminal Hall cross-bar with or without Rashba spin-orbit interaction (SOI) in a perpendicular uniform magnetic field. We find that the plateaus of the Hall resistance with even number of edge states can survive for very strong phase relaxation when the system size becomes much longer than the phase coherence length. On the other hand, the odd integer Hall resistance plateaus arising from the SOI are easily destroyed by the weak phase relaxation during the competition between the magnetic field and the SOI which delocalize the edge states. In addition, we have also studied the transverse spin Hall current and found that it exhibits resonant behavior whenever the Fermi level crosses the Landau band of the system. The phase relaxation process weakens the resonant spin Hall current and enhances the non-resonant spin Hall current.
Frequency dependencies of optical characteristics (reflection, transmission and absorption of light) of a quantum well are investigated in a vicinity of interband resonant transitions in a case of two closely located excited energy levels. A wide qua ntum well in a quantizing magnetic field directed normally to the quantum-well plane, and monochromatic stimulating light are considered. Distinctions between refraction coefficients of barriers and quantum well, and a spatial dispersion of the light wave are taken into account. It is shown that at large radiative lifetimes of excited states in comparison with nonradiative lifetimes, the frequency dependence of the light reflection coefficient in the vicinity of resonant interband transitions is defined basically by a curve, similar to the curve of the anomalous dispersion of the refraction coefficient. The contribution of this curve weakens at alignment of radiative and nonradiative times, it is practically imperceptible at opposite ratio of lifetimes . It is shown also that the frequency dependencies similar to the anomalous dispersion do not arise in transmission and absorption coefficients.

Conductivity of Integer Quantum Hall Effect (IQHE) may be expressed as the topological invariant composed of the two - point Green function. Such a topological invariant is known both for the case of homogeneous systems with intrinsic Anomalous Quant um Hall Effect (AQHE) and for the case of IQHE in the inhomogeneous systems. In the latter case we may speak, for example, of the AQHE in the presence of elastic deformations and of the IQHE in presence of magnetic field. The topological invariant for the general case of inhomogeneous systems is expressed through the Wigner transformed Green functions and contains Moyal product. When it is reduced to the expression for the IQHE in the homogeneous systems the Moyal product is reduced to the ordinary one while the Wigner transformed Green function (defined in phase space) is reduced to the Green function in momentum space. Originally the mentioned above topological representation has been derived for the non - interacting systems. We demonstrate that in a wide range of different cases in the presence of interactions the Hall conductivity is given by the same expression, in which the noninteracting two - point Green function is substituted by the complete two - point Green function with the interactions taken into account. Several types of interactions are considered including the contact four - fermion interactions, Yukawa and Coulomb interactions. We present the complete proof of this statement up to the two loops, and argue that the similar result remains to all orders of perturbation theory. It is based on the incorporation of Wigner - Weyl calculus to the perturbation theory. We, therefore, formulate Feynmann rules of diagram technique in terms of the Wigner transformed propagators.
The existence of long-lived non-equilibrium states without showing thermalization, which has previously been demonstrated in time evolution of ultracold atoms, suggests the possibility of their spatial analogue in transport behavior of interacting el ectrons in solid-state systems. Here we report long-lived non-equilibrium states in one-dimensional edge channels in the integer quantum Hall regime. An indirect heating scheme in a counterpropagating configuration is employed to generate a non-trivial binary spectrum consisting of high- and low-temperature components. This unusual spectrum is sustained even after travelling 5 - 10 {mu}m, much longer than the length for electronic relaxation (about 0.1 {mu}m), without showing significant thermalization. This observation is consistent with the integrable model of Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid. The long-lived spectrum implies that the system is well described by non-interacting plasmons, which are attractive for carrying information for a long distance.
Series connection of four quantum Hall effect (QHE) devices based on epitaxial graphene films was studied for realization of a quantum resistance standard with an up-scaled value. The tested devices showed quantum Hall plateaux RH,2 at filling factor i = 2 starting from relatively low magnetic field (between 4 T and 5 T) when temperature was 1.5 K. Precision measurements of quantized Hall resistance of four QHE devices connected by triple series connections and external bonding wires were done at B = 7 T and T = 1.5 K using a commercial precision resistance bridge with 50 microA current through the QHE device. The results showed that the deviation of the quantized Hall resistance of the series connection of four graphene-based QHE devices from the expected value of 4*RH,2 = 2h/e^2 was smaller than the relative standard uncertainty of the measurement (< 1*10^-7) limited by the used resistance bridge.
