We briefly review some of the progress made in the last decade in the study of the X-ray properties of the quasar population from the luminous, local objects observed by BeppoSAX to the large, rapidly increasing population of z>4 quasars detected by Chandra and XMM-Newton in recent years.
We present BeppoSAX and XMM-Newton observations of MKN 231. These observations and in particular the BeppoSAX PDS data allowed us to unveil, for the first time, the highly absorbed (N$_Hsim 2times10^{24}$ cm$^{-2}$) AGN component. We find that: a) th
Context. X-ray spectral variability analyses of active galactic nuclei (AGN) with moderate luminosities and redshifts typically show a softer when brighter behaviour. Such a trend has rarely been investigated for high-luminosity AGNs ($ L_{bol}gtrsim
We present the spectral analysis of Chandra/HETGS and NuSTAR observations of the quasar PDS 456 from 2015, and XMM-Newton and NuSTAR archival data from 2013-2014, together with Chandra/HETGS data from 2003. We analyzed these three different epochs in
The M-dwarf AD Leonis has been observed with the Reflection Grating Spectrometers and the European Photon Imaging Camera aboard XMM-Newton and also with the Low Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer aboard the Chandra X-ray Observatory. In the obs
Variations of the X-ray spectral slope have been found in many Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) at moderate luminosities and redshifts, typically showing a softer when brighter behaviour. However, similar studies are not usually performed for high-lumino
