We present the first fully sampled map of 12CO (1-0) emission from M82 covering the entire galaxy. Our map contains a 12 x 15 kpc^2 area. We find that extraplanar CO emission, previously reported at short distances above the galactic plane, extends to heights of up to 6 kpc above the disk. Some of this emission is associated with tidal arms seen in HI, implying either that M82 contained substantial amounts of molecular gas in the outer disk, or that molecular gas formed after the tidal features. CO emission along the direction of the outflow extends to distances of 3 kpc above and below the disk. At this distance, the line is shifted in velocity about 100 km/s, and has the same sense as the galactic outflow from the central starburst. This implies that molecular gas may be entrained into the outflow.
We present a 154 pointing IRAM NOEMA mosaic of the CO(1-0) line emission in and around the nearby starburst galaxy M82. The observations, complemented by zero--spacing observations, reach a spatial resolution of $sim$30 pc ($sim 1.9^{primeprime}$) at
We report the discovery of a faint (L_x ~ 4 10^37 erg/s, 0.5-2 keV), out-flowing gaseous hot interstellar medium (ISM) in NGC 3379. This represents the lowest X-ray luminosity ever measured from a hot phase of the ISM in a nearby early type galaxy. T
Observations of two H$_2$CO ($3_{03}-2_{02}$ and $3_{21}-2_{20}$) lines and continuum emission at 1.3 mm towards Sgr B2(N) and Sgr B2(M) have been carried out with the SMA. The mosaic maps of Sgr B2(N) and Sgr B2(M) in both continuum and lines show a
We report the first evidence of molecular gas in two atomic hydrogen (HI) clouds associated with gas outflowing from the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). We used the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) to detect and spatially resolve individual clumps
Debris disks are considered to be gas-poor, but recent observations revealed molecular or atomic gas in several 10-40 Myr old systems. We used the APEX and IRAM 30m radiotelescopes to search for CO gas in 20 bright debris disks. In one case, around t
