Understanding the temperature dependence of thermal boundary resistance, or Kapitza resistance, between liquid helium and sintered metal has posed a problem in low temperature physics for decades. In the ballistic regime of superfluid $^{3}$He-B, we find the Kapitza resistance can be described via scattering of thermal excitations (quasiparticles) with a macroscopic geometric area, rather than the sintered metals microscopic area. We estimate that a quasiparticle needs on the order of 1000 collisions to successfully thermalise with the sinter. Finally, we find that the Kapitza resistance is approximately doubled with the addition of two mono-layers of solid $^{4}$He on the sinter surface, which we attribute to an extra magnetic channel of heat transfer being closed as the non-magnetic solid $^{4}$He replaces the magnetic solid $^{3}$He.
Andreev reflection of quasiparticle excitations from quantized line vortices is reviewed in the isotropic B phase of superfluid $^3$He in the temperature regime of ballistic quasiparticle transport at $T leq 0.20,T_mathrm{c}$. The reflection from an
The superfluid $^3$He B phase, one of the oldest unconventional fermionic condensates experimentally realized, is recently predicted to support Majorana fermion surface states. Majorana fermion, which is characterized by the equivalence of particle a
Bulk superfluid helium supports two sound modes: first sound is an ordinary pressure wave, while second sound is a temperature wave, unique to inviscid superfluid systems. These sound modes do not usually exist independently, but rather variations in
We calculate the effect of a heat current on transporting $^3$He dissolved in superfluid $^4$He at ultralow concentration, as will be utilized in a proposed experimental search for the electric dipole moment of the neutron (nEDM). In this experiment,
Motivated by a proposed experimental search for the electric dipole moment of the neutron (nEDM) utilizing neutron-$^3$He capture in a dilute solution of $^3$He in superfluid $^4 $He, we derive the transport properties of dilute solutions in the regi
