We study the correlation functions of quantum spin $1/2$ ladders at finite temperature, under a magnetic field, in the gapless phase at various relevant temperatures $T eq 0$, momentum $q$ and frequencies $omega$. We compute those quantities using the time dependent density matrix renormalization group (T-DMRG) in some optimal numerical scheme. We compare these correlations with the ones of dimerized quantum spin chains and simple spin chains, that we compute by a similar technique. We analyze the intermediate energy modes and show that the effect of temperature lead to the formation of an essentially dispersive mode corresponding to the propagation of a triplet mode in an incoherent background, with a dispersion quite different from the one occurring at very low temperatures. We compare the low energy part of the spectrum with the predictions of the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid field theory at finite temperature. We shows that the field theory describes in a remarkably robust way the low energy correlations for frequencies or temperatures up to the natural cutoff (the effective dispersion) of the system. We discuss how our results could be tested in e.g. neutron scattering experiments.
Inelastic-neutron-scattering measurements were performed on a single crystal of the heavy-fermion paramagnet UTe$_2$ above its superconducting temperature. We confirm the presence of antiferromagnetic fluctuations with the incommensurate wavevector $
We study the dynamics of a Brownian particle in Morse potential under thermal fluctuations, modeled by Gaussian white noise whose amplitude depends on absolute temperature. Dynamics of such a particle is investigated by numerically integrating the co
This paper is written as a brief introduction for beginning graduate students. The picture of electron waves moving in a cristalline potential and interacting weakly with each other and with cristalline vibrations suffices to explain the properties o
To assess the strength of nematic fluctuations with a finite wave vector in a two-dimensional metal, we compute the static d-wave polarization function for tight-binding electrons on a square lattice. At Van Hove filling and zero temperature the func
We present single-crystal neutron diffraction measurements on multiferroic LuFe2O4 showing phase transitions at 240 and 175 K. Magnetic reflections are observed below each transition indicating that the magnetic interactions in LuFe2O4 are 3-dimensio
