We investigate the cosmological applications of fluids having an equation of state which is the analog to the one related to the isotropic deformation of crystalline solids, that is containing logarithmic terms of the energy density, allowing additionally for a bulk viscosity. We consider two classes of scenarios and we show that they are both capable of triggering the transition from deceleration to acceleration at late times. Furthermore, we confront the scenarios with data from Supernovae type Ia (SN Ia) and Hubble function observations, showing that the agreement is excellent. Moreover, we perform a dynamical system analysis and we show that there exist asymptotic accelerating attractors, arisen from the logarithmic terms as well as from the viscosity, which in most cases correspond to a phantom late-time evolution. Finally, for some parameter regions we obtain a nearly de Sitter late-time attractor, which is a significant capability of the scenario since the dark energy, although dynamical, stabilizes at the cosmological constant value.

We propose a dark energy model with a logarithmic cosmological fluid which can result in a very small current value of the dark energy density and avoid the coincidence problem without much fine-tuning. We construct a couple of dynamical models that could realize this dark energy at very low energy in terms of four scalar fields quintessence and discuss the current acceleration of the Universe. Numerical values can be made to be consistent with the accelerating Universe with adjustment of the two parameters of the theory. The potential can be given only in terms of the scale factor, but the explicit form at very low energy can be obtained in terms of the scalar field to yield of the form V(phi)=exp(-2phi)(frac{4 A}{3}phi+B). Some discussions and the physical implications of this approach are given.
We show that the extended cosmological equation-of-state developed starting from a Chaplygin equation-of-state, recently applied to stellar modeling, is a viable dark energy model consistent with standard scalar potentials. Moreover we find a Lagrang ian formulation based on a canonical scalar field with the appropriate self-interaction potential. Finally, we fit the scalar potential obtained numerically with concrete functions well studied in the literature. Our results may be of interest to model builders and particle physicists.
We completely classify Friedmann-Lema^{i}tre-Robertson-Walker solutions with spatial curvature $K=0,pm 1$ and equation of state $p=wrho$, according to their conformal structure, singularities and trapping horizons. We do not assume any energy conditi ons and allow $rho < 0$, thereby going beyond the usual well-known solutions. For each spatial curvature, there is an initial spacelike big-bang singularity for $w>-1/3$ and $rho>0$, while no big-bang singularity for $w<-1$ and $rho>0$. For $K=0$ or $-1$, $-1<w<-1/3$ and $rho>0$, there is an initial null big-bang singularity. For each spatial curvature, there is a final spacelike future big-rip singularity for $w<-1$ and $rho>0$, with null geodesics being future complete for $-5/3le w<-1$ but incomplete for $w<-5/3$. For $w=-1/3$, the expansion speed is constant. For $-1<w<-1/3$ and $K=1$, the universe contracts from infinity, then bounces and expands back to infinity. For $K=0$, the past boundary consists of timelike infinity and a regular null hypersurface for $-5/3<w<-1$, while it consists of past timelike and past null infinities for $wle -5/3$. For $w<-1$ and $K=1$, the spacetime contracts from an initial spacelike past big-rip singularity, then bounces and blows up at a final spacelike future big-rip singularity. For $w<-1$ and $K=-1$, the past boundary consists of a regular null hypersurface. The trapping horizons are timelike, null and spacelike for $win (-1,1/3)$, $win {1/3, -1}$ and $win (-infty,-1)cup (1/3,infty)$, respectively. A negative energy density ($rho <0$) is possible only for $K=-1$. In this case, for $w>-1/3$, the universe contracts from infinity, then bounces and expands to infinity; for $-1<w<-1/3$, it starts from a big-bang singularity and contracts to a big-crunch singularity; for $w<-1$, it expands from a regular null hypersurface and contracts to another regular null hypersurface.
In the present study we have proposed a new model of an anisotropic compact star which admits the Chaplygin equation of state. For this purpose, we consider Buchdahl ansatz. We obtain the solution of proposed model in closed form which is non-singula r, regular and well-behaved. In addition to this, we show that the model satisfies all the energy conditions and maintains the hydrostatic equilibrium equation. This model represents compact stars like PSR B0943+10, Her X-1 and SAX J1808.4-3658 to a very good approximate.
Theoretically, the running of the cosmological constant in the IR region is not ruled out. On the other hand, from the QFT viewpoint, the energy released due to the variation of the cosmological constant in the late universe cannot go to the matter s ector. For this reason, the phenomenological bounds on such a running are not sufficiently restrictive. The situation can be different in the early universe when the gravitational field was sufficiently strong to provide an efficient creation of particles from the vacuum. We develop a framework for systematically exploring this ossibility. It is supposed that the running occurs in the epoch when the Dark Matter already decoupled and is expanding adiabatically, while baryons are approximately massless and can be abundantly created from vacuum due to the decay of vacuum energy. By using the handy model of Reduced Relativistic Gas for describing the Dark Matter, we consider the dynamics of both cosmic background and linear perturbations and evaluate the impact of the vacuum decay on the matter power spectrum and to the first CMB peak. Additionally, using the combined data of CMB+BAO+SNIa we find the best fit values for the free parameters of our model.
