We have developed a new method of data processing for radio telescope observation data to measure time-dependent temporal coherence, and we named it cross-correlation spectrometry (XCS). XCS is an autocorrelation procedure that expands time lags over the integration time and is applied to data obtained from a single-dish observation. The temporal coherence property of received signals is enhanced by XCS. We tested the XCS technique using the data of strong H2O masers in W3 (H2O), W49N and W75N. We obtained the temporal coherent lengths of the maser emission to be 17.95 $pm$ 0.33 {mu}s, 26.89 $pm$ 0.49 {mu}s and 15.95 $pm$ 0.46 {mu}s for W3 (H2O), W49N and W75N, respectively. These results may indicate the existence of a coherent astrophysical maser.

The stellar (n,gamma) cross section of 40Ca at kT=25 keV has been measured with a combination of the activation technique and accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). This combination is required when direct off-line counting of the produced activity is compromised by the long half-life and/or missing gamma-ray transitions. The neutron activations were performed at the Karlsruhe Van de Graaff accelerator using the quasistellar neutron spectrum of kT=25 keV produced by the 7Li(p,n)7Be reaction. The subsequent AMS measurements were carried out at the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA) with a 3 MV tandem accelerator. The doubly magic 40Ca is a bottle-neck isotope in incomplete silicon burning, and its neutron capture cross section determines the amount of leakage, thus impacting on the eventual production of iron group elements. Because of its high abundance, 40Ca can also play a secondary role as neutron poison for the s-process. Previous determinations of this value at stellar energies were based on time-of-flight measurements. Our method uses an independent approach, and yields for the Maxwellian-averaged cross section at kT=30 keV a value of <sigma>30 keV= 5.73+/-0.34 mb.
The purpose of the SOLIS Zeemanfit Code is to provide a straight-forward, easily checked measure of the total magnetic-field strength in the high-strength umbral regions of the solar disk. In the highest-strength regions, the Zeeman splitting of the 6302-angstrom Fe line becomes wide enough for the triplet nature of the line to be visible by eye in non-polarized light. Therefore, a three-line fit to the spectra should, in principle, provide a fairly robust measure of the total magnetic-field strength. The code uses the Level-1.5 spec-cube data of the SOLIS VSM 6302-vector observations (specifically the Stokes-I and Stokes-V components) to fit the line profiles at each appropriate pixel and calculate the magnetic-field-strength from the line-center separation of the two fit 6302.5 sigma-components. The 6301.5-angstrom Fe line is also present and fit in the VSM 6302-vector data, but it is an anomalous-Zeeman line with a weaker response to magnetic fields. Therefore, no magnetic- field measure is derived from this portion of the spectral fit.
Measuring cosmic shear in wide-field imaging surveys requires accurate knowledge of the redshift distribution of all sources. The clustering-redshift technique exploits the angular cross-correlation of a target galaxy sample with unknown redshifts an d a reference sample with known redshifts, and is an attractive alternative to colour-based methods of redshift calibration. We test the performance of such clustering redshift measurements using mock catalogues that resemble the Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS). These mocks are created from the MICE simulation and closely mimic the properties of the KiDS source sample and the overlapping spectroscopic reference samples. We quantify the performance of the clustering redshifts by comparing the cross-correlation results with the true redshift distributions in each of the five KiDS photometric redshift bins. Such a comparison to an informative model is necessary due to the incompleteness of the reference samples at high redshifts. Clustering mean redshifts are unbiased at $|Delta z|<0.006$ under these conditions. The redshift evolution of the galaxy bias can be reliably mitigated at this level of precision using auto-correlation measurements and self-consistency relations, and will not become a dominant source of systematic error until the arrival of Stage-IV cosmic shear surveys. Using redshift distributions from a direct colour-based estimate instead of the true redshift distributions as a model for comparison with the clustering redshifts increases the biases in the mean to up to $|Delta z|sim0.04$. This indicates that the interpretation of clustering redshifts in real-world applications will require more sophisticated (parameterised) models of the redshift distribution in the future. If such better models are available, the clustering-redshift technique promises to be a highly complementary alternative to other methods of redshift calibration.
Intriguing work on observations of 4.83 GHz formaldehyde (H2CO) absorptions and 4.87 GHz H110a radio recombination lines (RRLs) towards 6.7 GHz methanol (CH3OH) maser sources is presented. Methanol masers provide ideal sites to probe the earliest sta ges of massive star formation, while 4.8 GHz formaldehyde absorptions are accurate probes of physical conditions in dense $(10^{3} - 10^{5} cm^{-3})$ and low temperature molecular clouds towards massive star forming regions. The work is aimed at studying feature similarities between the formaldehyde absorptions and the methanol masers so as to expand knowledge of events and physical conditions in massive star forming regions. A total of 176 methanol maser sources were observed for formaldehyde absorptions, and formaldehyde absorptions were detected 138 of them. 53 of the formaldehyde absorptions were newly detected. We noted a poor correlation between the methanol and formaldehyde intensities, an indication that the signals (though arise from about the same regions) are enhanced by different mechanisms. Our results show higher detection rates of the formaldehyde lines for sources with stronger methanol signals. The strongest formaldehyde absorptions were associated with IRAS sources and IRDCs that have developed HII regions, and that do not have EGOs.

The traditional celestial navigation system (CNS) is used the moon, stars, and planets as celestial guides. Then the star tracker (i.e. track one star or planet or angle between it) and star sensor (i.e. sense many star simultaneous) be used to deter mine the attitude of the spacecraft. Pulsar navigation also be introduced to CNS. Maser is another interested celestial in radio astronomy which has strong flux density as spectral line. Now we analysis the principle of maser navigation which base on measuring Doppler shift frequency spectra and the feasibility that use the exist instrument. We give the navigation equations of maser-based navigation system and discuss the integrated navigation use maser, then give the perspective in the Milky Way and the intergalatic. Our analysis show that use one meter antenna can achieve tens of meters position accuracy which better than todays star sensor. After integrated with maser navigation, pulsar navigation and star sensor in CNS and inertial navigation system, is it not only increase the reliability and redundancy of navigation or guiding system but also can less or abolish the depend of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) which include GPS, GRONSS, Galileo and BeiDou et al. Maser navigation can give the continuous position in deep space, that means we can freedom fly successfully in the Milky Way which use celestial navigation that include maser, pulsar and traditional star sensor. Maser as nature beacon in the universe will make human freely fly in the space of the Milky Way, even outer of it. That is extraordinary in the human evolution to type III of Kardashev civilizations.
