We point out that interesting features in high energy physics data can be determined from properties of Voronoi tessellations of the relevant phase space. For illustration, we focus on the detection of kinematic edges in two dimensions, which may signal physics beyond the standard model. After deriving some useful geometric results for Voronoi tessellations on perfect grids, we propose several algorithms for tagging the Voronoi cells in the vicinity of kinematic edges in real data. We show that the efficiency is improved by the addition of a few Voronoi relaxation steps via Lloyds method. By preserving the maximum spatial resolution of the data, Voronoi methods can be a valuable addition to the data analysis toolkit at the LHC.
The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a mature option for the future of high energy physics. It combines the benefits of the clean environment of $e^+e^-$ colliders with operation at high centre-of-mass energies, allowing to probe scales beyond the r
Several experiments observed deviations from the Standard Model (SM) in the flavour sector: LHCb found a $4-5,sigma$ discrepancy compared to the SM in $bto smu^+mu^-$ transitions (recently supported by an Belle analysis) and CMS reported a non-zero m
In this work we investigate the usefulness of nuSTORM as a probe of two new-physics scenarios which are sterile neutrinos and non-unitarity of the neutrino mixing matrix. For the sterile neutrino we show the importance of the neutral current events w
While the LHC did not observe direct evidence for physics beyond the standard model, indirect hints for new physics were uncovered in the flavour sector in the decays $Bto K^*mu^+mu^-$, $Bto Kmu^+mu^-/Bto Ke^+e^-$, $B_stophimu^+mu^-$, $Bto D^{(*)}tau
LHCb found hints for physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) in $Bto K^*mu^+mu^-$, $R(K)$ and $B_stophimu^+mu^-$. These intriguing hints for NP have recently been confirmed by the LHCb measurement of $R(K^*)$ giving a combined significance for NP abov
