Neutron stars feature extremely high magnetic fields with deduced field strengths of $10^{15}$ G in the case of magnetars and potentially much higher values inside of the star. In this context we consider the appearance of $rho^-$ meson condensation taking into account the effect of the magnetic field. The results show that, depending on parameters, such a condensation in magnetized neutron stars might (just) occur.

Strong interaction physics under extreme conditions of high temperature and/or density is of central interest in modern nuclear physics for experimentalists and theorists alike. In order to investigate such systems, model approaches that include hadr ons and quarks in a unified approach, will be discussed. Special attention will be given to high-density matter as it occurs in neutron stars. Given the current observational limits for neutron star masses, the properties of hyperonic and hybrid stars will be determined. In this context especially the question of the extent, to which exotic particles like hyperons and quarks affect star masses, will be discussed.

In this paper, we provide state sum path integral definitions of exotic invertible topological phases proposed in the recent paper by Hsin, Ji, and Jian. The exotic phase has time reversal ($T$) symmetry, and depends on a choice of the spacetime stru cture called the Wu structure. The exotic phase cannot be captured by the classification of any bosonic or fermionic topological phases, and thus gives a novel class of invertible topological phases. When the $T$ symmetry defect admits a spin structure, our construction reduces to a sort of the decorated domain wall construction, in terms of a bosonic theory with $T$ symmetry defects decorated with a fermionic phase that depends on a spin structure of the $T$ symmetry defect. By utilizing our path integral, we propose a lattice construction for the exotic phase that generates the $mathbb{Z}_8$ classification of the (3+1)d invertible phase based on the Wu structure. This generalizes the $mathbb{Z}_8$ classification of the $T$-symmetric (1+1)d topological superconductor proposed by Fidkowski and Kitaev. On oriented spacetime, this (3+1)d invertible phase with a specific choice of Wu structure reduces to a bosonic Crane-Yetter TQFT which has a topological ordered state with a semion on its boundary. Moreover, we propose a subclass of $G$-SPT phases based on the Wu structure labeled by a pair of cohomological data in generic spacetime dimensions. This generalizes the Gu-Wen subclass of fermionic SPT phases.

Since the pioneering discovery of molecular resonances in the 12C+12C reaction more than half a century ago a great deal of research work has been undertaken in alpha clustering. Our knowledge on physics of nuclear molecules has increased considerabl y and nuclear clustering remains one of the most fruitful domains of nuclear physics, facing some of the greatest challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. The occurrence of exotic shapes and Bose-Einstein alpha condensates in light N=Z alpha-conjugate nuclei is investigated. Various approaches of the superdeformed and hyperdeformed bands associated with quasimolecular resonant structures are presented. Evolution of clustering from stability to the drip-lines is examined: clustering aspects are, in particular, discussed for light exotic nuclei with large neutron excess such as neutron-rich Oxygen isotopes with their complete spectroscopy.

Since the discovery of molecular resonances in $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C in the early sixties a great deal of research work has been undertaken to study alpha-clustering. Our knowledge on physics of nuclear molecules has increased considerably and nuclear cl ustering remains one of the most fruitful domains of nuclear physics, facing some of the greatest challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. Occurrence of exotic shapes and Bose-Einstein Condensates in light alpha-cluster nuclei are investigated. Various approaches of superdeformed/hyperdeformed shapes associated with quasimolecular resonant structures are discussed. The astrophysical reaction rate of 12C+12C is extracted from recent fusion measurements at deep subbarrier energies near the Gamov window. Evolution of clustering from stability to the drip-lines is examined.
Using the QCD sum rules we test if the charmonium-like structure Y(4260), observed in the $J/psipipi$ invariant mass spectrum, can be described with a $J/psi f_0(980)$ molecular current with $J^{PC}=1^{--}$. We consider the contributions of condensat es up to dimension six and we work at leading order in $alpha_s$. We keep terms which are linear in the strange quark mass $m_s$. The mass obtained for such state is $m_{Y}=(4.67pm 0.09)$ GeV, when the vector and scalar mesons are in color singlet configurations. We conclude that the proposed current can better describe the Y(4660) state that could be interpreted as a $Psi(2S) f_0(980)$ molecular state. We also use different $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ currents to study the recently observed $Y_b(10890)$ state. Our findings indicate that the $Y_b(10890)$ can be well described by a scalar-vector tetraquark current.
