We study some implications of the presence of two inert scalar doublets which are charged under a dark Abelian gauge symmetry. Specifically, we investigate the effects of the new scalars on oblique electroweak parameters and on the interactions of the 125 GeV Higgs boson, especially its decay modes $htogammagamma, gamma Z$, and trilinear coupling, all of which will be probed with improved precision in future Higgs measurements. Moreover, we explore how the inert scalars may give rise to strongly first-order electroweak phase transition and also show its correlation with sizable modifications to the Higgs trilinear coupling.

With two Higgs doublets but without any discrete $Z_2$ symmetry to forbid flavor changing neutral Higgs couplings, new top Yukawa couplings $rho_{tt}$ and $rho_{tc}$ are allowed and naturally complex. Electroweak baryogenesis is remarkably efficient if both $rho_{tt}$ (and $rho_{tc}$) and exotic Higgs quartic couplings are ${cal O}(1)$. Furthermore, the alignment phenomenon, that the observed 125 GeV boson so closely resembles the Standard Model Higgs boson, emerges naturally. One not only has many new flavor and CPV phenomena (modulo SM-like flavor organization plus alignment), but the exotic Higgs bosons $H^0$, $A^0$ and $H^+$ are necessarily sub-TeV in mass, and LHC search should be readjusted.
We investigate the potential stochastic gravitational waves from first-order electroweak phase transitions in a model with pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone dark matter and two Higgs doublets. The dark matter candidate can naturally evade direct detection bound s, and can achieve the observed relic abundance via the thermal mechanism. Three scalar fields in the model obtain vacuum expectation values, related to phase transitions at the early Universe. We search for the parameter points that can cause first-order phase transitions, taking into account the existed experimental constraints. The resulting gravitational wave spectra are further evaluated. Some parameter points are found to induce strong gravitational wave signals, which have the opportunity to be detected in future space-based interferometer experiments LISA, Taiji, and TianQin.
We study a two scalar inert doublet model (IDMS$_3$) which is stabilized by a $S_3$ symmetry. We consider two scenarios: i) two of the scalars in each charged sector are mass degenerated due to a residual $Z_2$ symmetry, ii) there is no mass degenera cy because of the introduction of soft terms that break the $Z_2$ symmetry. We show that both scenarios provide good dark matter candidates for some range of parameters.
Light new physics weakly coupled to the Higgs can induce a strong first-order electroweak phase transition (EWPT). Here, we argue that scenarios in which the EWPT is driven first-order by a light scalar with mass between $sim 10$ GeV - $m_h/2$ and sm all mixing with the Higgs will be conclusively probed by the high-luminosity LHC and future Higgs factories. Our arguments are based on analytic and numerical studies of the finite-temperature effective potential and provide a well-motivated target for exotic Higgs decay searches at the LHC and future lepton colliders.
We perform a nonperturbative study of the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) in the two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) by deriving a dimensionally reduced high-temperature effective theory for the model, and matching to known results for the phase diagr am of the effective theory. We find regions of the parameter space where the theory exhibits a first-order phase transition. In particular, our findings are consistent with previous perturbative results suggesting that the primary signature of a first-order EWPT in the 2HDM is $m_{A_0} > m_{H_0} + m_Z$.
