Gauge dependence of one-particle irreducible (1-PI) amplitudes in SU(N) Yang-Mills theory is shown to be generated by a canonical flow with respect to (w.r.t.) the extended Slavnov-Taylor (ST) identity, induced by the transformation of the gauge parameter under the BRST symmetry. For linear covariant gauges, the analytic expansion in the gauge parameter of 1-PI amplitudes is given in terms of coefficients evaluated in the Landau gauge and of derivatives w.r.t. the gauge parameter of the generating functional of the flow. An application to the gauge flow of the gluon propagator is considered.

Electromagnetism, the strong and the weak interaction are commonly formulated as gauge theories in a Lagrangian description. In this paper we present an alternative formal derivation of U(1)-gauge theory in a manifestly covariant Hamilton formalism. We make use of canonical transformations as our guiding tool to formalize the gauging procedure. The introduction of the gauge field, its transformation behaviour and a dynamical gauge field Lagrangian/Hamiltonian are unavoidable consequences of this formalism, whereas the form of the free gauge Lagrangian/Hamiltonian depends on the selection of the gauge dependence of the canonically conjugate gauge fields.
We show how to implement the background field method by means of canonical transformations and comment on the applications of the method to non-perturbative techniques in non-Abelian gauge theories. We discuss the case of the lattice in some details.
We propose a way to encode acceleration directly into quantum fields, establishing a new class of fields. Accelerated quantum fields, as we have named them, have some very interesting properties. The most important is that they provide a mathematical ly consistent way to quantize space-time in the same way that energy and momentum are quantized in standard quantum field theories.

Using twistor space intuition, Cachazo, Svrcek and Witten presented novel diagrammatic rules for gauge-theory amplitudes, expressed in terms of maximally helicity-violating (MHV) vertices. We define non-MHV vertices, and show how to use them to give a recursive construction of these amplitudes. We also use them to illustrate the equivalence of various twistor-space prescriptions, and to determine the associated combinatoric factors.

We perform a careful study of the infrared sector of massless non-abelian gauge theories in four-dimensional Minkowski spacetime using the covariant phase space formalism, taking into account the boundary contributions arising from the gauge sector o f the theory. Upon quantization, we show that the boundary contributions lead to an infinite degeneracy of the vacua. The Hilbert space of the vacuum sector is not only shown to be remarkably simple, but also universal. We derive a Ward identity that relates the n-point amplitude between two generic in- and out-vacuum states to the one computed in standard QFT. In addition, we demonstrate that the familiar single soft gluon theorem and multiple consecutive soft gluon theorem are consequences of the Ward identity.
