This is the report of the Intensity Frontier Charged Lepton Working Group of the 2013 Community Summer Study Snowmass on the Mississippi, summarizing the current status and future experimental opportunities in muon and tau lepton studies and their sensitivity to new physics. These include searches for charged lepton flavor violation, measurements of magnetic and electric dipole moments, and precision measurements of the decay spectrum and parity-violating asymmetries.

This paper describes a new multipurpose event generator, ESEPP, which has been developed for the Monte Carlo simulation of unpolarized elastic scattering of charged leptons on protons. The generator takes into account the lowest-order QED radiative c orrections to the Rosenbluth cross section including first-order bremsstrahlung without using the soft-photon or ultrarelativistic approximations. ESEPP can be useful for several significant ongoing and planned experiments.
We propose a channel for the possible discovery of new charged leptons at the Large Hadron Collider. The proposed final state contains three same-sign leptons, making this new channel practically back- groundless. The method is illustrated for two di fferent cases: the four-family Standard Model and the Grand Unified Theory based on the E6 gauge group. An example study taking 250 GeV as the charged lepton mass shows that in both models, about 8 signal events can be expected at 14 TeV center-of-mass energy with 1 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity. Although the event yield might not be sufficient for detailed measurements of the charged lepton properties, it would be sufficient to claim discovery through a counting experiment.
We study the production and decay of fourth generation leptons at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).We find that for charged leptons with masses under a few hundred GeV, the dominant collider signal comes from the production through a W-boson of a char ged and neutral fourth generation lepton. We present a sensitivity study for this process in events with two like-sign charged leptons and at least two associated jets. We show that with sqrts = 7 TeV and 1 inverse fb of data, the LHC can exclude fourth generation charged leptons with masses up to 250 GeV.
We discuss a mechanism where charged lepton masses are derived from one-loop diagrams mediated by particles in a dark sector including a dark matter candidate. We focus on a scenario where the muon and electron masses are generated at one loop with n ew ${cal O}(1)$ Yukawa couplings. The measured muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment, $(g-2)_mu$, can be explained in this framework. As an important prediction, the muon and electron Yukawa couplings can largely deviate from their standard model predictions, and such deviations can be tested at High-Luminosity LHC and future $e^+e^-$ colliders.
In this note we discuss a characteristic collider signature of models of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking in which the selectron and smuon are mass-degenerate co-NLSP. In these models, all processes involving superpartners give rise to two NLSP selectrons or smuons, each of which subsequently decays to a nearly massless LSP gravitino and an electron or a muon. In a large region of the parameter space, the NLSPs travel macroscopic distances, of the order 0.1-1000 mm, before they decay. Hence, these models give rise to collider signatures involving charged tracks that end at vertices, which are inside the detector volume but displaced with respect to the original collision point, from which an electron or a muon is emitted. In order to probe this class of models we propose a search for disappearing charged tracks in association with displaced electrons or muons.
