We describe the pre-OmegaTranS project, a deep survey for transiting extra-solar planets in the Carina region of the Galactic Disk. In 2006-2008 we observed a single dense stellar field with a very high cadence of ~2min using the ESO Wide Field Imager at the La Silla Observatory. Using the Astronomical Wide-field System for Europe and the Munich Difference Imaging Analysis pipeline, a module that has been developed for this project, we created the light curves of 16000 stars with more than 4000 data points which we searched for periodic transit signals using a box-fitting least-squares detection algorithm. All light curves are publicly available. In the course of the pre-OmegaTranS project we identified two planet candidates - POTS-1b and POTS-C2b - which we present in this work. With extensive follow-up observations we were able to confirm one of them, POTS-1b, a hot Jupiter transiting a mid-K dwarf. The planet has a mass of 2.31+-0.77M_Jup and a radius of 0.94+-0.04R_Jup and a period of P=3.16d. The host star POTS-1 has a radius of 0.59+-0.02R_Sun and a mass of 0.70+-0.05M_Sun. Due to its low apparent brightness of I=16.1mag the follow-up and confirmation of POTS-1b was particularly challenging and costly.

We present the discovery of NGTS-1b, a hot-Jupiter transiting an early M-dwarf host ($T_{eff}=3916^{+71}_{-63}~K$) in a P=2.674d orbit discovered as part of the Next Generation Transit Survey (NGTS). The planet has a mass of $0.812^{+0.066}_{-0.075}~ M_{J}$, making it the most massive planet ever discovered transiting an M-dwarf. The radius of the planet is $1.33^{+0.61}_{-0.33}~R_{J}$. Since the transit is grazing, we determine this radius by modelling the data and placing a prior on the density from the population of known gas giant planets. NGTS-1b is the third transiting giant planet found around an M-dwarf, reinforcing the notion that close-in gas giants can form and migrate similar to the known population of hot Jupiters around solar type stars. The host star shows no signs of activity, and the kinematics hint at the star being from the thick disk population. With a deep (2.5%) transit around a $K=11.9$ host, NGTS-1b will be a strong candidate to probe giant planet composition around M-dwarfs via JWST transmission spectroscopy.

We report the discovery by the ground-based HATNet survey of the transiting exoplanet HAT-P-68b, which has a mass of 0.724 $pm$ 0.043 $M_{Jup}$, and radius of 1.072 $pm$ 0.012 $R_{Jup}$. The planet is in a circular P = 2.2984-day orbit around a moder ately bright V = 13.937 $pm$ 0.030 magnitude K dwarf star of mass 0.673 $+$ 0.020 $-$0.014 $M_{odot}$, and radius 0.6726 $pm$ 0.0069 $R_{odot}$. The planetary nature of this system is confirmed through follow-up transit photometry obtained with the FLWO~1.2m telescope, high-precision RVs measured using Keck-I/HIRES, FLWO~1.5m/TRES, and OHP~1.9m/Sophie, and high-spatial-resolution speckle imaging from WIYN~3.5m/DSSI. HAT-P-68 is at an ecliptic latitude of $+3^{circ}$ and outside the field of view of both the NASA TESS primary mission and the K2 mission. The large transit depth of 0.036 mag ($r$-band) makes HAT-P-68b a promising target for atmospheric characterization via transmission spectroscopy.
We report the discovery of NGTS-2b, an inflated hot-Jupiter transiting a bright F5V star (2MASS J14202949-3112074; $T_{rm eff}$=$6478^{+94}_{-89}$ K), discovered as part of the Next Generation Transit Survey (NGTS). The planet is in a P=4.51 day orbi t with mass $0.74^{+0.13}_{-0.12}$ M$_{J}$, radius $1.595^{+0.047}_{-0.045}$ R$_{J}$ and density $0.226^{+0.040}_{-0.038}$ g cm$^{-3}$; therefore one of the lowest density exoplanets currently known. With a relatively deep 1.0% transit around a bright V=10.96 host star, NGTS-2b is a prime target for probing giant planet composition via atmospheric transmission spectroscopy. The rapid rotation ($vsin$i=$15.2pm0.8$ km s$^{-1}$) also makes this system an excellent candidate for Rossiter-McLaughlin follow-up observations, to measure the sky-projected stellar obliquity. NGTS-2b was confirmed without the need for follow-up photometry, due to the high precision of the NGTS photometry.
We report the discovery and initial characterisation of Qatar-1b, a hot Jupiter orbiting a metal-rich K dwarf star, the first planet discovered by the Alsubai Project exoplanet transit survey. We describe the strategy used to select candidate transit ing planets from photometry generated by the Alsubai Project instrument. We examine the rate of astrophysical and other false positives found during the spectroscopic reconnaissance of the initial batch of candidates. A simultaneous fit to the follow-up radial velocities and photometry of Qatar-1b yield a planetary mass of 1.09+/-0.08 Mjup and a radius of 1.16+/-0.05 Rjup. The orbital period and separation are 1.420033 days and 0.0234 AU for an orbit assumed to be circular. The stellar density, effective temperature and rotation rate indicate an age greater than 4 Gyr for the system.

We report on the discovery of HAT-P-10b, the lowest mass (0.46 +/- 0.03 MJ) transiting extrasolar planet (TEP) discovered to date by transit searches. HAT-P-10b orbits the moderately bright V=11.89 K dwarf GSC 02340-01714, with a period P = 3.7224690 +/- 0.0000067 d, transit epoch Tc = 2454729.90631 +/- 0.00030 (BJD) and duration 0.1100 +/- 0.0015 d. HAT-P-10b has a radius of 1.05 +(0.05)-(0.03) RJ yielding a mean density of 0.498+/-0.064 g cm^-3 . Comparing these observations with recent theoretical models we find that HAT-P-10 is consistent with a ~4.5 Gyr, coreless, pure hydrogen and helium gas giant planet. With an equilibrium temperature of Teq = 1030 +(26)-(19)K, HAT-P-10b is one of the coldest TEPs. Curiously, its Safronov number Theta = 0.047 +/- 0.003 falls close to the dividing line between the two suggested TEP populations.
