We study resonant all-electric adiabatic spin pumping through a quantum dot with two nearby levels by using a Fermi liquid approach in the strongly interacting regime, combined with a projective numerical renormalization group (NRG) theory. Due to spin-orbit coupling, a strong spin pumping resonance emerges at every charging transition, which allows for the transfer of a spin $~ hbar/2$ through the device in a single pumping cycle. Depending on the precise geometry of the device, controlled pure spin pumping is also possible.

Spin Hall effects intermix spin and charge currents even in nonmagnetic materials and, therefore, ultimately may allow the use of spin transport without the need for ferromagnets. We show how spin Hall effects can be quantified by integrating permall oy/normal metal (N) bilayers into a coplanar waveguide. A dc spin current in N can be generated by spin pumping in a controllable way by ferromagnetic resonance. The transverse dc voltage detected along the permalloy/N has contributions from both the anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) and the spin Hall effect, which can be distinguished by their symmetries. We developed a theory that accounts for both. In this way, we determine the spin Hall angle quantitatively for Pt, Au and Mo. This approach can readily be adapted to any conducting material with even very small spin Hall angles.

We have demonstrated spin pumping from a paramagnetic state of an insulator La2NiMnO6 into a Pt film. Single-crystalline films of La2NiMnO6 which exhibit a ferromagnetic order at TC ~ 270 K were grown by pulsed laser deposition. The inverse spin Hall voltage induced by spin-current injection has been observed in the Pt layer not only in the ferromagnetic phase of La2NiMnO6 but also in a wide temperature range above TC. The efficient spin pumping in the paramagnetic phase is ascribable to ferromagnetic correlation, not to ferromagnetic order.
We consider pumping through a small quantum dot separated from the leads by two point contacts, whose conductances, $G_{1}$ and $G_{2}$, serve as pumping parameters. When the dot is pincched, we find that there is a resonance line in the parameter pl ane ${G_{1}, G_{2}}$ along which the Fermi energy in the leads aligns with the energy of the quasi-bound state in the quantum dot. When $G_{1}$ and $G_{2}$ are modulated periodically and adiabatically such that the pumping contour defined by $G_{1}=G_{1}(t)$ and $ G_{2}=G_{2}(t)$ encircles the resonance line, the current is quantized: the charge pumped through the dot during each period of the modulation is close to a single electronic charge.
We present a microscopic Fermi-liquid view on the low-energy transport through an Anderson impurity with $N$ discrete levels, at arbitrary electron filling $N_d$. It is applied to nonequilibrium current fluctuations, for which the two-quasiparticle c ollision integral and the three-body correlations that determine the quasiparticle energy shift play important roles. Using the numerical renormalization group up to $N=6$, we find that for strong interactions the three-body fluctuations are determined by a single parameter other than the Kondo energy scale in a wide filling range $1 lesssim N_d lesssim N-1$. It significantly affects the current noise for $N>2$ and the behavior of noise in magnetic fields.
We consider a quantum dot with ${cal K}{geq} 2$ orbital levels occupied by two electrons connected to two electric terminals. The generic model is given by a multi-level Anderson Hamiltonian. The weak-coupling theory at the particle-hole symmetric po int is governed by a two-channel $S{=}1$ Kondo model characterized by intrinsic channels asymmetry. Based on a conformal field theory approach we derived an effective Hamiltonian at a strong-coupling fixed point. The Hamiltonian capturing the low-energy physics of a two-stage Kondo screening represents the quantum impurity by a two-color local Fermi-liquid. Using non-equilibrium (Keldysh) perturbation theory around the strong-coupling fixed point we analyze the transport properties of the model at finite temperature, Zeeman magnetic field and source-drain voltage applied across the quantum dot. We compute the Fermi-liquid transport constants and discuss different universality classes associated with emergent symmetries.
