The contributions of superconducting fluctuations to the specific heat of dirty superconductors are calculated, including quantum and classical corrections to the `usual leading Gaussian divergence. These additional terms modify the Ginzburg criterion, which is based on equating these fluctuation-generated contributions to the mean-field discontinuity in the specific heat, and set limits on its applicability for materials with a low transition temperature.

Understanding the interaction of vortices with inclusions in type-II superconductors is a major outstanding challenge both for fundamental science and energy applications. At application-relevant scales, the long-range interactions between a dense co nfiguration of vortices and the dependence of their behavior on external parameters, such as temperature and an applied magnetic field, are all important to the net response of the superconductor. Capturing these features, in general, precludes analytical description of vortex dynamics and has also made numerical simulation prohibitively expensive. Here we report on a highly optimized iterative implicit solver for the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations suitable for investigations of type-II superconductors on massively parallel architectures. Its main purpose is to study vortex dynamics in disordered or geometrically confined mesoscopic systems. In this work, we present the discretization and time integration scheme in detail for two types of boundary conditions. We describe the necessary conditions for a stable and physically accurate integration of the equations of motion. Using an inclusion pattern generator, we can simulate complex pinning landscapes and the effect of geometric confinement. We show that our algorithm, implemented on a GPU, can provide static and dynamic solutions of the Ginzburg-Landau equations for mesoscopically large systems over thousands of time steps in a matter of hours. Using our formulation, studying scientifically-relevant problems is a computationally reasonable task.
We developed microscopic theory of Josephson effect in point contacts between dirty two-band superconductors. The general expression for the Josephson current, which is valid for arbitrary temperatures, is obtained. This expression was used for calcu lation of current-phase relations and temperature dependences of critical current with application to MgB2 superconductor. Also we have considered influence on contact characteristics interband scattering effect appeared in case of dirty superconductors. It is shown that the correction to Josephson current due to the interband scattering depends on phase shift in the banks (i.e. s- or s+/- -wave symmetry of order parameters)
We have extended Brandts method for accurate, efficient calculations within Ginzburg-Landau theory for periodic vortex lattices at arbitrary mean induction to lattices of doubly quantized vortices.
The vortex-lattice melting transitions in two typical iron-based high-Tc superconductor $Ba(Fe_{1-x}Co_{x})_{2}As_{2}$ (122-type) and$Nd(O_{1-x}F_{x})FeAs$ (1111-type) for magnetic fields both parallel and perpendicular to the anisotropy axis are stu died within the elastic theory. Using the parameters from experiments, the vortex-lattice melting lines in the H-T diagram are located systematically by various groups of Lindemann numbers. It is observed that the theoretical result for the vortex melting on $Ba(Fe_{1-x}Co_{x})_{2}As_{2}$ for parallel fields agrees well the recent experimental data. The future experimental results for the vortex melting can be compared with the present theoretical prediction by tuning reasonable Lindemann numbers.
Recent studies have emphasized the importance of impurity scattering for the optical Higgs response of superconductors. In the dirty limit, an additional paramagnetic coupling of light to the superconducting condensate arises which drastically enhanc es excitation. So far, most work concentrated on the periodic driving with light, where the third-harmonic generation response of the Higgs mode was shown to be enhanced. In this work, we additionally calculate the time-resolved optical conductivity of single- and two-band superconductors in a two-pulse quench-probe setup, where we find good agreement with existing experimental results. We use the Mattis-Bardeen approach to incorporate impurity scattering and calculate explicitly the time-evolution of the system. Calculations are performed both in a diagrammatic picture derived from an effective action formalism and within a time-dependent density matrix formalism.
