The low-lying energy spectra of five quark systems $uudcbar{c}$ (I=1/2, S=0) and $udscbar{c}$ (I=0, S=-1) are investigated with three kinds of schematic interactions: the chromomagnetic interaction, the flavor-spin dependent interaction and the instanton-induced interaction. In all the three models, the lowest five quark state ($uudcbar{c}$ or $udscbar{c}$) has an orbital angular momentum L=0 and the spin-parity $J^{P}=1/2^{-}$; the mass of the lowest $udscbar{c}$ state is heavier than the lowest $uudcbar{c}$ state.

Evidence has been accumulating for the existence of significant intrinsic non-perturbative five-quark components in various baryons. The inclusion of the five-quark components gives a natural explanation of the excess of $bar d$ over $bar u$, signifi cant quark orbital angular momentum in the proton, the problematic mass and decay pattern of the lowest $1/2^-$ baryon nonet, etc.. A breathing mode of $qqqleftrightarrow qqqqbar q$ is suggested for the lowest $1/2^-$ baryon octet. Evidence of a predicted member of the new scheme, $Sigma^*(1/2^-)$ around 1380 MeV, is introduced.
Short-range quark-quark correlations are introduced into the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model phenomenologically. We study the effect of the correlations on the structure of the nucleon in dense nuclear matter. With the addition of correlations, the saturation curve for symmetric nuclear matter is much improved at high density.
The effect of the vector interaction on three flavor magnetized matter is studied within the SU(3) Nambu--Jona-Lasiono quark model. We have considered cold matter under a static external magnetic field within two different models for the vector inter action in order to investigate how the form of the vector interaction and the intensity of the magnetic field affect the equation of state as well as the strangeness content. It was shown that the flavor independent vector interaction predicts a smaller strangeness content and, therefore, harder equations of state. On the other hand, the flavor dependent vector interaction favors larger strangeness content the larger the vector coupling. We have confirmed that at low densities the magnetic field and the vector interaction have opposite competing effects: the first one softens the equation of state while the second hardens it. Quark stars and hybrid stars subject to an external magnetic field were also studied. Larger star masses are obtained for the flavor independent vector interaction. Hybrid stars may bare a core containing deconfined quarks if neither the vector interaction nor the magnetic field are too strong. Also, the presence of strong magnetic fields seems to disfavor the existence of a quark core in hybrid stars.

In this paper, we suggest that the process in quark nova explosion may exist widely in various kinds of supernova, although it only happens in a small part in the core in most cases. And the contribution to the energy releasing of whole supernova exp losion can also be provided by QCD interacting term. In this way we derive a general equation of energy quantity to be released in quark nova process related to several parameters. After quark nova explosion process, the remnant can be a quark star, or a neutron star with quark matter core if this process only happens in a small part inside the compact star instead of a full quark nova. We will also use a more generalized approach to analyse the strangelets released from quark nova and will draw a possible interpretation of why effects caused by strangelets have not been observed yet. Our result suggests that the ordinary matter can only spontaneously transform into strange quark matter by crushing them into high pressure under the extreme condition in compact star, although generally the reaction would really be exergonic.
An improved quark mass density- dependent model with the non-linear scalar sigma field and the $omega$-meson field is presented. We show that the present model can describe saturation properties, the equation of state, the compressibility and the eff ective nuclear mass of nuclear matter under mean field approximation successfully. The comparison of the present model and the quark-meson coupling model is addressed.
