We first clarify the relation between boundary perturbations of AdS3 in general relativity, and exactly marginal worldsheet vertex operators in AdS3 string theory with Neveu-Schwarz Neveu-Schwarz flux. The latter correspond to solutions of the higher derivative low-energy tree level effective action to all orders in the string length over the curvature radius. We then calculate the exact expression of the boundary energy momentum tensor including all these higher derivative corrections in a purely bosonic string theory. The bottom-line is a canonical shift in the normalization of the boundary energy-momentum tensor corresponding to a shift in the curvature radius over the string length squared by the dual Coxeter number of the SL(2,R) subalgebra of the space-time Virasoro algebra. That allows us to derive the value of the Brown-Henneaux central charge including all tree level higher derivative corrections in bosonic string theory, in a scheme dictated by the worldsheet conformal field theory.

The structure of the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor play an important role in determining the properties of the form factors $A(q^{2})$, $B(q^{2})$ and $C(q^{2})$ which appear in the Lorentz covariant decomposition of the matrix elemen ts. In this paper we apply a rigorous frame-independent distributional-matching approach to the matrix elements of the Poincar{e} generators in order to derive constraints on these form factors as $q rightarrow 0$. In contrast to the literature, we explicitly demonstrate that the vanishing of the anomalous gravitomagnetic moment $B(0)$ and the condition $A(0)=1$ are independent of one another, and that these constraints are not related to the specific properties or conservation of the individual Poincar{e} generators themselves, but are in fact a consequence of the physical on-shell requirement of the states in the matrix elements and the manner in which these states transform under Poincar{e} transformations.

In this work we investigate the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor for massless on-shell states in four-dimensional unitary, local, and Poincare covariant quantum field theories. We demonstrate that these matrix elements can be parametrise d in terms of covariant multipoles of the Lorentz generators, and that this gives rise to a form factor decomposition in which the helicity dependence of the states is factorised. Using this decomposition we go on to explore some of the consequences for conformal field theories, deriving the explicit analytic conditions imposed by conformal symmetry, and using examples to illustrate that they uniquely fix the form of the matrix elements. We also provide new insights into the constraints imposed by the existence of massless particles, showing in particular that massless free theories are necessarily conformal.

The gauge variance of wave functionals for a gauge theory quantized in the momentum (curvature) representation is described. It is shown that a gauge transformation gives rise to a cocycle, which for theories in two space-time dimensions is related t o the Kirillov-Kostant form. Various derivations are presented, including one based on geometric (pre-) quantization. The formalism is applied to two dimensional gravity models that are equivalently described by B-F gauge theories.

We have discussed a particular class of exact cosmological solutions of the 4-dimensional low energy string gravity in the string frame. In the vacuum without matter and the 2-form fields, the exact cosmological solutions always give monotonically sh rinking universes if the dilaton field is not a constant. However, in the presence of the 2-form fields and/or the radiation-like fluid in the string frame, the exact cosmological solutions show a minimum size of the universe in the evolution, but with an initial cosmological curvature singularity in the string frame.
We present the calculation of the non-perturbative renormalization constants of the energy-momentum tensor in the SU(3) Yang-Mills theory. That computation is carried out in the framework of shifted boundary conditions, where a thermal quantum field theory is formulated in a moving reference frame. The non-perturbative renormalization factors are then used to measure the Equation of State of the SU(3) Yang-Mills theory. Preliminary numerical results are presented and discussed.
