We present deep high angular resolution observations of the high-mass protostar NGC 7538S, which is in the center of a cold dense cloud core with a radius of 0.5 pc and a mass of ~2,000 Msun. These observations show that NGC 7538S is embedded in a compact elliptical core with a mass of 85 - 115 Msun. The star is surrounded by a rotating accretion disk, which powers a very young, hot molecular outflow approximately perpendicular to the rotating accretion disk. The accretion rate is very high, ~ 1.4 - 2.8 10^-3 Msun yr^-1. Evidence for rotation of the disk surrounding the star is seen in all largely optically thin molecular tracers, H13CN J = 1-0, HN13C J = 1-0, H13CO+ J = 1-0, and DCN J = 3-2. Many molecules appear to be affected by the hot molecular outflow, including DCN and H13CO+. The emission from CH3CN, which has often been used to trace disk rotation in young high-mass stars, is dominated by the outflow, especially at higher K-levels. Our new high-angular resolution observations show that the rotationally supported part of the disk is smaller than we previously estimated. The enclosed mass of the inner, rotationally supported part of the disk (D ~ 5, i.e 14,000 AU) is ~ 14 - 24 Msun.

We present high angular resolution continuum observations of the high-mass protostar NGC 7538S with BIMA and CARMA at 3 and 1.4 mm, VLA observations at 1.3, 2, 3.5 and 6 cm, and archive IRAC observations from the Spitzer Space Observatory, which dete ct the star at 4.5, 5.8, and 8 $mu$m. The star looks rather unremarkable in the mid-IR. The excellent positional agreement of the IRAC source with the VLA free-free emission, the OH, CH$_3$OH, H$_2$O masers, and the dust continuum confirms that this is the most luminous object in the NGC 7538S core. The continuum emission at millimeter wavelengths is dominated by dust emission from the dense cold cloud core surrounding the protostar. Including all array configurations, the emission is dominated by an elliptical source with a size of ~ 8 x 3. If we filter out the extended emission we find three compact mm-sources inside the elliptical core. The strongest one, $S_A$, coincides with the VLA/IRAC source and resolves into a double source at 1.4 mm, where we have sub-arcsecond resolution. The measured spectral index, $alpha$, between 3 and 1.4 mm is ~ 2.3, and steeper at longer wavelengths, suggesting a low dust emissivity or that the dust is optically thick. We argue that the dust in these accretion disks is optically thick and estimate a mass of an accretion disk or infalling envelope surrounding S$_A$ to be ~ 60 solar masses.
Recent high-angular resolution (40 mas) ALMA observations at 1.14 mm resolve a compact (R~200 au) flattened dust structure perpendicular to the HH 80-81 jet emanating from the GGD 27-MM1 high-mass protostar, making it a robust candidate for a true ac cretion disk. The jet/disk system (HH 80-81 / GGD 27-MM1) resemble those found in association with low- and intermediate-mass protostars. We present radiative transfer models that fit the 1.14 mm ALMA dust image of this disk which allow us to obtain its physical parameters and predict its density and temperature structure. Our results indicate that this accretion disk is compact (Rdisk~170 au) and massive (5Msun), about 20% of the stellar mass of 20 Msun. We estimate the total dynamical mass of the star-disk system from the molecular line emission finding a range between 21 and 30 Msun, which is consistent with our model. We fit the density and temperature structures found by our model with power law functions. These results suggest that accretion disks around massive stars are more massive and hotter than their low-mass siblings, but they still are quite stable. We also compare the temperature distribution in the GGD 27-MM1 disk with that found in low- and intermediate-mass stars and discuss possible implications on the water snow line. We have also carried about a study of the distance based on Gaia DR2 data and the population of young stellar objects (YSOs) in this region, and from the extinction maps. We conclude that the source distance is in within 1.2 and 1.4 kpc, closer than what was derived in previous studies (1.7 kpc).
We present new spectral line observations of the CH3CN molecule in the accretion disk around the massive protostar IRAS 20126+4104 with the Submillimeter Array that for the first time measure the disk density, temperature, and rotational velocity wit h sufficient resolution (0.37, equivalent to ~600 AU) to assess the gravitational stability of the disk through the Toomre-Q parameter. Our observations resolve the central 2000 AU region that shows steeper velocity gradients with increasing upper state energy, indicating an increase in the rotational velocity of the hotter gas nearer the star. Such spin-up motions are characteristics of an accretion flow in a rotationally supported disk. We compare the observed data with synthetic image cubes produced by three-dimensional radiative transfer models describing a thin flared disk in Keplerian motion enveloped within the centrifugal radius of an angular-momentum-conserving accretion flow. Given a luminosity of 1.3x10^4 Lsun, the optimized model gives a disk mass of 1.5 Msun and a radius of 858 AU rotating about a 12.0 Msun protostar with a disk mass accretion rate of 3.9x10^{-5} Msun/yr. Our study finds that, in contrast to some theoretical expectations, the disk is hot and stable to fragmentation with Q > 2.8 at all radii which permits a smooth accretion flow. These results put forward the first constraints on gravitational instabilities in massive protostellar disks, which are closely connected to the formation of companion stars and planetary systems by fragmentation.

During the last decades, a great interest has emerged to know if even the most massive stars in our galaxy (namely the spectral O-type stars) are formed in a similar manner as the low- and intermediate-mass stars, that is, through the presence of acc reting disks and powerful outflows. Here, using sensitive observations of the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA), we report a resolved Keplerian disk (with fifteen synthesized beams across its major axis) surrounding the deeply embedded O-type protostar IRAS16547$-$4247. The disk shows some asymmetries that could arise because of the disk is unstable and fragmenting or maybe because of different excitation conditions within the disk. The enclosed mass estimated from the disk Keplerian radial velocities is 25$pm$3 M$_odot$. The molecular disk is at the base of an ionized thermal radio jet and is approximately perpendicular to the jet axis orientation. We additionally find the existence of a binary system of compact dusty objects at the center of the accreting disk, which indicates the possible formation of an O-type star and a companion of lower mass. This is not surprising due to the high binary fraction reported in massive stars. Subtracting the contribution of the dusty disk plus the envelope and the companion, we estimated a mass of 20 M$_odot$ for the central star.
We performed a detailed study of the high-mass clump interacting with bubble N10 based on the spectral lines $^{12}CO(3-2)$, $HCO^+(4-3)$, $N_2H^+(4-3)$ and $CH_3OH(7(0,7)-6(0,6))$ and continuum emission data at 450 $mu$m and 850 $mu$m released on CA DC and Spitzer data. Blue-shifted optically thick line $^{12}CO (3-2)$ seems to indicate that the outer envelope of the high-mass clump is still falling toward the center. Detection of $CH_3OH(7(0,7)-6(0,6))$ suggests that a hot core has formed around YSO N10-7. And position-velocity diagram of $N_2H^+ (4-3)$ indicates the cold dense core of the clump has not been destroyed by the star formation activities. The mass of N10-7 is about 27.44 $M_odot$. The ratio $HCO^+(4-3)/N_2H^+ (4-3)$ in the outer part of the clump is larger than that in the inner part of it. The reason may be that the CO abundance relative to $N_2H^+ (4-3)$ increased in the outer part of the high-mass clump, more $N_2H^+ (4-3)$ were converted into $HCO^+(4-3)$.
