Event anisotropy measurements at RHIC suggest the strongly interacting matter created in heavy ion collisions flows with very little shear viscosity. Precise determination of shear viscosity-to-entropy ratio is currently a subject of extensive study. We present preliminary results of measurements of the evolution of transverse momentum correlation function with collision centrality of $Au +Au$ interactions at $sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. We compare two differential correlation functions, namely {it inclusive} and a differential version of the correlation measure $tilde C$ introduced by Gavin ${it et. al.}$. These observables can be used for the experimental study of the shear viscosity per unit entropy.

We present results on transverse momentum correlations of charged particle pairs produced in Pb-Au collisions at 158$A$ GeV/$c$ at the Super Proton Synchrotron. The transverse momentum correlations have been studied as a function of collision central ity, angular separation of the particle pairs, transverse momentum and charge sign. We demonstrate that the results are in agreement with previous findings in scale-independent analyses at the same beam energy. Employing the two-particle momentum correlator $<Delta p_{t,i}, Delta p_{t,j}>$ and the cumulative $p_t$ variable $x(p_t)$, we identify, using the scale-dependent approach presented in this paper, different sources contributing to the measured correlations, such as quantum and Coulomb correlations, elliptic flow and mini-jet fragmentation.
Shear viscosity $eta$ is calculated for the nuclear matter described as a system of interacting nucleons with the van der Waals (VDW) equation of state. The Boltzmann-Vlasov kinetic equation is solved in terms of the plane waves of the collective ove rdamped motion. In the frequent-collision regime, the shear viscosity depends on the particle-number density $n$ through the mean-field parameter $a$, which describes attractive forces in the VDW equation. In the temperature region $T=15 - 40$~MeV, a ratio of the shear viscosity to the entropy density $s$ is smaller than 1 at the nucleon number density $n =(0.5 - 1.5),n^{}_0$, where $n^{}_0=0.16,$fm$^{-3}$ is the particle density of equilibrium nuclear matter at zero temperature. A minimum of the $eta/s$ ratio takes place somewhere in a vicinity of the critical point of the VDW system. Large values of $eta/sgg 1$ are, however, found in both the low-density, $nll n^{}_0$, and high-density, $n>2n^{}_0$, regions. This makes the ideal hydrodynamic approach inapplicable for these densities.
We present transverse momentum distributions of inclusive charged particles and identified hadrons in $pp$ and Pb--Pb collisions at $rs= 2.76$ TeV, measured by ALICE at the LHC. The Pb--Pb data are presented in intervals of collision centrality and c over transverse momenta up to 50 GeV/$c$. Nuclear medium effects are studied in terms of the nuclear modification factor raa. The results indicate a strong suppression of high-$p_T$ particles in Pb--Pb collisions, consistent with a large energy loss of hard-scattered partons in the hot, dense and long-lived medium created at the LHC. We compare the preliminary results for inclusive charged particles to previous results from RHIC and calculations from energy loss models. Furthermore, we compare the nuclear modification factors of inclusive charged particles to those of identified $pi^0$, $pi^{pm}$, K$^0_s$, and $Lambda$.

A measurement of two-particle correlations with a high transverse momentum trigger particle (p_T^{trig} > 2.5 GeV/c) is presented for Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV over the uniquely broad longitudinal acceptance of the PHOBOS detector (-4 < Deltaeta < 2). A broadening of the away-side azimuthal correlation compared to elementary collisions is observed at all Deltaeta. As in p+p collisions, the near-side is characterized by a peak of correlated partners at small angle relative to the trigger particle. However, in central Au+Au collisions an additional correlation extended in Deltaeta and known as the `ridge is found to reach at least |Deltaeta| approx 4. The ridge yield is largely independent of Deltaeta over the measured range, and it decreases towards more peripheral collisions. For the chosen p_T^{trig} cut, the ridge yield is consistent with zero for events with less than roughly 100 participating nucleons.
We present a study of the average transverse momentum ($p_t$) fluctuations and $p_t$ correlations for charged particles produced in Cu+Cu collisions at midrapidity for $sqrt{s_{NN}} =$ 62.4 and 200 GeV. These results are compared with those published for Au+Au collisions at the same energies, to explore the system size dependence. In addition to the collision energy and system size dependence, the $p_t$ correlation results have been studied as functions of the collision centralities, the ranges in $p_t$, the pseudorapidity $eta$, and the azimuthal angle $phi$. The square root of the measured $p_t$ correlations when scaled by mean $p_t$ is found to be independent of both colliding beam energy and system size studied. Transport-based model calculations are found to have a better quantitative agreement with the measurements compared to models which incorporate only jetlike correlations.
