The exclusive electroproduction process $vec{e}p to e^prime n pi^+$ was measured in the range of the photon virtuality $Q^2 = 1.7 - 4.5 rm{GeV^2}$, and the invariant mass range for the $npi^+$ system of $W = 1.15 - 1.7 rm{GeV}$ using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer. For the first time, these kinematics are probed in exclusive $pi^+$ production from protons with nearly full coverage in the azimuthal and polar angles of the $npi^+$ center-of-mass system. The $npi^+$ channel has particular sensitivity to the isospin 1/2 excited nucleon states, and together with the $ppi^0$ final state will serve to determine the transition form factors of a large number of resonances. The largest discrepancy between these results and present modes was seen in the $sigma_{LT}$ structure function. In this experiment, 31,295 cross section and 4,184 asymmetry data points were measured. Because of the large volume of data, only a reduced set of structure functions and Legendre polynomial moments can be presented that are obtained in model-independent fits to the differential cross sections.

Beam-target double-spin asymmetries and target single-spin asymmetries were measured for the exclusive $pi^0$ electroproduction reaction $gamma^* p to p pi^0$, expanding an analysis of the $gamma^* p to n pi^+$ reaction from the same experiment. The results were obtained from scattering of 6 GeV longitudinally polarized electrons off longitudinally polarized protons using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer at Jefferson Lab. The kinematic range covered is $1.1<W<3$ GeV and $1<Q^2<6$ GeV$^2$. Results were obtained for about 5700 bins in $W$, $Q^2$, cthcm, and $phi^*$. The beam-target asymmetries were found to generally be greater than zero, with relatively modest phicmsp dependence. The target asymmetries exhibit very strong phicmsp dependence, with a change in sign occurring between results at low $W$ and high $W$, in contrast to $pi^+$ electroproduction. Reasonable agreement is found with phenomenological fits to previous data for $W<1.6$ GeV, but significant differences are seen at higher $W$. When combined with cross section measurements, as well as $pi^+$ observables, the present results will provide powerful constraints on nucleon resonance amplitudes at moderate and large values of $Q^2$, for resonances with masses as high as 2.4 GeV.

The kinematic range covered is $1.1<W<3$ GeV and $1<Q^2<6$ GeV$^2$. Results were obtained for about 6000 bins in $W$, $Q^2$, $cos(theta^*)$, and $phi^*$. Except at forward angles, very large target-spin asymmetries are observed over the entire $W$ region. Reasonable agreement is found with phenomenological fits to previous data for $W<1.6$ GeV, but very large differences are seen at higher values of $W$. A GPD-based model is in poor agreement with the data. When combined with cross section measurements, the present results provide powerful constraints on nucleon resonance amplitudes at moderate and large values of $Q^2$, for resonances with masses as high as 2.4 GeV.
New results on the single-differential and fully-integrated cross sections for the process $gamma_{v} p rightarrow p pi^{+} pi^{-}$ are presented. The experimental data were collected with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Laboratory. Measurements were carried out in the kinematic region of the reaction invariant mass $W$ from 1.3 to 1.825 GeV and the photon virtuality $Q^2$ from 0.4 to 1.0 GeV$^2$. The cross sections were obtained in narrow $Q^{2}$ bins (0.05 GeV$^{2}$) with the smallest statistical uncertainties achieved in double-pion electroproduction experiments to date. The results were found to be in agreement with previously available data where they overlap. A preliminary interpretation of the extracted cross sections, which was based on a phenomenological meson-baryon reaction model, revealed substantial relative contributions from nucleon resonances. The data offer promising prospects to improve knowledge on the $Q^{2}$-evolution of the electrocouplings of most resonances with masses up to $sim$1.8 GeV.

The photon-ion merged-beams technique has been employed at the new Photon-Ion spectrometer at PETRA III (PIPE) for measuring multiple photoionization of Xe$^{q+}$ (q=1-5) ions. Total ionization cross sections have been obtained on an absolute scale f or the dominant ionization reactions of the type h u + Xe$^{q+}$ $to$ Xe$^{r+}$ + (q-r) e$^-$ with product charge states q+2 $le$ r $le$ q+5. Prominent ionization features are observed in the photon-energy range 650-750 eV, which are associated with excitation or ionization of an inner-shell 3d electron. Single-configuration Dirac-Fock calculations agree quantitatively with the experimental cross sections for non-resonant photoabsorption, but fail to reproduce all details of the measured ionization resonance structures.
Differential cross sections for the reaction $gamma p to K^{*0} Sigma^+$ are presented at nine bins in photon energy in the range from 1.7 to 3.0 GeV. The kstar was detected by its decay products, $K^+pi^-$, in the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. The se data are the first kstar photoproduction cross sections ever published over a broad range of angles. Comparison with a theoretical model based on the vector and tensor $K^*$-quark couplings shows good agreement with the data in general, after adjusting the models two parameters in a fit to our data. Disagreement between the data at forward angles and the global angle-energy fit to the model suggests that the role of scalar $kappa$ meson exchange in $t$-channel diagrams should be investigated.
