The SLAC Linac can deliver damped bunches with ILC parameters for bunch charge and bunch length to End Station A. A 10Hz beam at 28.5 GeV energy can be delivered there, parasitic with PEP-II operation. We plan to use this facility to test prototype components of the Beam Delivery System and Interaction Region. We discuss our plans for this ILC Test Facility and preparations for carrying out experiments related to collimator wakefields and energy spectrometers. We also plan an interaction region mockup to investigate effects from backgrounds and beam-induced electromagnetic interference.

LumiCal will be the luminosity calorimeter for the proposed International Large Detector of the International Linear Collider (ILC). The ILC physics program requires the integrated luminosity to be measured with a relative precision on the order of 1 0e-3, or 10e-4 when running in GigaZ mode. Luminosity will be determined by counting Bhabha scattering events coincident in the two calorimeter modules placed symmetrically on opposite sides of the interaction point. To meet these goals, the energy resolution of the calorimeter must be better than 1.5% at high energies. LumiCal has been designed as a 30-layer sampling calorimeter with tungsten as the passive material and silicon as the active material. Monte Carlo simulation using the Geant4 software framework has been used to identify design elements which adversely impact energy resolution and correct for them without loss of statistics. BeamCal, covering polar angles smaller than LumiCal, will serve for beam tuning, luminosity optimisation and high energy electron detection. Secondly, prototypes of the sensors and electronics for both detectors have been evaluated during beam tests, the results of which are also presented here.
This note describes R&D to be carried out on the data acquisition system for a calorimeter at the future International Linear Collider. A generic calorimeter and data acquisition system is described. Within this framework modified designs and potenti al bottlenecks within the current system are described. Solutions leading up to a technical design report will to be carried out within CALICE-UK groups.

The SLAC Linear Collider has been colliding a polarized electron beam with an unpolarized positron beam at the Z^0 resonance for the SLD experiment since 1992. An electron beam polarization of close to 80% has been achieved for the experiment at lumi nosities up to 8x10^29 cm^-2 s^-1. This is the worlds first and only linear collider, and is a successful prototype for the next generation of high energy electron linear colliders. This paper discusses polarized beam operation for the SLC, and includes aspects of the polarized source, spin transport and polarimetry. Presented at the 12th International Symposium on High Energy Spin Physics held at Amsterdam, The Netherlands September 10-14, 1996.
At the core of the AGILE scientific instrument, designed to operate on a satellite, there is the Gamma Ray Imaging Detector (GRID) consisting of a Silicon Tracker (ST), a Cesium Iodide Mini-Calorimeter and an Anti-Coincidence system of plastic scinti llator bars. The ST needs an on-ground calibration with a $gamma$-ray beam to validate the simulation used to calculate the energy response function and the effective area versus the energy and the direction of the $gamma$ rays. A tagged $gamma$-ray beam line was designed at the Beam Test Facility (BTF) of the INFN Laboratori Nazionali of Frascati (LNF), based on an electron beam generating $gamma$ rays through bremsstrahlung in a position-sensitive target. The $gamma$-ray energy is deduced by difference with the post-bremsstrahlung electron energy cite{prest}-cite{hasan}. The electron energy is measured by a spectrometer consisting of a dipole magnet and an array of position sensitive silicon strip detectors, the Photon Tagging System (PTS). The use of the combined BTF-PTS system as tagged photon beam requires understanding the efficiency of $gamma$-ray tagging, the probability of fake tagging, the energy resolution and the relation of the PTS hit position versus the $gamma$-ray energy. This paper describes this study comparing data taken during the AGILE calibration occurred in 2005 with simulation.

One of the potential problems of a Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detector (MPGD)-based Time Projection Chamber (TPC) is the Ion back Flow (IBF): ions generated through the avalanche amplification process flow back to the drift volume of the TPC and disarrang e an electric field inside it. Consequently non-negligible degradation of azimuthal spatial resolution is caused due to this IBF. Meanwhile, it is necessary to collect primary ionized electrons to maintain intrinsic performance of the MPGDs. The MPGD based TPC is currently planned to be used as a central tracking detector of the International Large Detector (ILD), which is one of the detector concepts for the future International Linear Collider (ILC) project, and which requires fine azimuthal spatial resolution of less than 100 ${rm mu m}$ over the drift length of the TPC to attain high momentum resolution. Because of a unique beam structure of the ILC, the IBF is a critical issue for the realization of the ILD-TPC. Not only to suppress the ion back-flow to the drift volume, but also to allow the primary electrons pass through, a large aperture GEM-like gating device has been developed. Several bench tests for confirming the performance of the gating device have been conducted, besides that, beam test with the full detector module equipped with the gating device was carried out to verify the resolution that the full module can provide. As a result, it turned out that the developed gating device fulfills requirements for maintaining the performance of the MPGD based TPC, and it has sufficient performance for the central tracker of the ILD at the ILC.
