High precision vector and tensor analyzing powers of elastic deuteron-proton d+p scattering have been measured at intermediate energies to investigate effects of three-nucleon forces (3NF). Angular distribution in the range of 70-120 degree in the center-of mass frame for incident-deuteron energies of 130 and 180 MeV were obtained using the RIKEN facility. The beam polarization was unambiguously determined by measuring the 12C(d,alpha)10B(2+) reaction at 0 degree. Results of the measurements are compared with state-of-the-art three-nucleon calculations. The present modeling of nucleon-nucleon forces and its extension to the three-nucleon system is not sufficient to describe the high precision data consistently and requires, therefore, further investigation.

The vector Ay and tensor analyzing powers Ayy and Axx for dp- elastic scattering were measured at Td = 880 MeV over the c.m. angular range from 60 to 140 degrees at the JINR Nuclotron. The data are compared with predictions of different theoretical m odels based on the use of nucleon-nucleon forces only. The observed discrepancies of the measured analyzing powers from the calculations require the consideration of additional mechanisms.
The vector and tensor analysing powers in deuteron-proton elastic scattering have been measured in the forward hemisphere at deuteron kinetic energies of 1.2 GeV and 2.27 GeV using the ANKE spectrometer at the COSY storage ring. The results are compa red with other experimental data and with predictions made within the framework of Glauber multiple scattering theory.

It is shown that the ratio of the deuteron and proton analysing powers in proton-deuteron elastic scattering at small angles is sensitive to subtle effects in a theoretical description. These include the transverse spin-spin term in the elementary nu cleon-nucleon amplitudes and double-scattering corrections. On the other hand there is far less sensitivity to the spin-orbit amplitude and to binding or other kinematic effects associated with the use of the deuteron, as either target or projectile. The available data are in agreement with the results of a refined Glauber theory model.
We report on a first measurement of tensor analyzing powers in quasi-elastic electron-deuteron scattering at an average three-momentum transfer of 1.7 fm$^{-1}$. Data sensitive to the spin-dependent nucleon density in the deuteron were obtained for m issing momenta up to 150 MeV/$c$ with a tensor polarized $^2$H target internal to an electron storage ring. The data are well described by a calculation that includes the effects of final-state interaction, meson-exchange and isobar currents, and leading-order relativistic contributions.
Vector and tensor analysing powers of the d(pol)p->(pp)n (charge-exchange) and d(pol)p->(pn)p (non-charge-exchange) breakup reactions have been measured with the ANKE spectrometer at the COSY ring at a deuteron beam energy of 1170 MeV for small momen tum transfers to the low excitation energy (pp) or (pn) systems. A quantitative understanding of the values of A_xx and A_yy for the charge-exchange reaction is provided by impulse approximation calculations. The data suggest that spin-flip isospin-flip transitions, which dominate the charge-exchange breakup of the deuteron, are also important in the non-charge-exchange reaction.
