Backreaction of excitations on a planar domain wall in a real scalar field model is investigated in the cases of homogeneous, plane wave and wave packet type excitations. It is found that the excited domain wall radiates. The method of calculating backreaction for the general forms of excitations is also presented.

We consider here the interaction of scalar bosons with a topological domain wall. Not only is there a continuum of scattering states, but there is also an interesting quasi-discretuum of positive energy bosonic bound states, describing bosons entrapp ed within the walls core. The full spectrum of the scattering and bound state energies and eigenstates is obtainable from a Schrodinger-type of equation with a Poschl-Teller potential. We also consider the presence of a boson gas within the wall and high energy boson emission.

We calculate the four-dimensional low-energy effective action for the perturbations of a two-scalar domain wall model in five dimensions. Comparison of the effective action to the Nambu-Goto action reveals the presence of an additional coupling betwe en the light scalar field and the massless translation mode (branon excitation), which can be written in terms of the curvature scalar of the induced metric. We comment on the impact of this interaction to branon physics.
We investigate the interplay between moduli dynamics and inflation, focusing on the KKLT-scenario and cosmological $alpha$-attractors. General couplings between these sectors can induce a significant backreaction and potentially destroy the inflation ary regime; however, we demonstrate that this generically does not happen for $alpha$-attractors. Depending on the details of the superpotential, the volume modulus can either be stable during the entire inflationary trajectory, or become tachyonic at some point and act as a waterfall field, resulting in a sudden end of inflation. In the latter case there is a universal supersymmetric minimum where the scalars end up, preventing the decompactification scenario. The gravitino mass is independent from the inflationary scale with no fine-tuning of the parameters. The observational predictions conform to the universal value of attractors, fully compatible with the Planck data, with possibly a capped number of e-folds due to the interplay with moduli.
We find a consistent set of equations of motion and constraints for massive higher-spin fluctuations in a gravitational background, required of certain characteristic properties but more general than constant curvature space. Of particular interest a mong such geometries is a thick domain wall--a smooth version of the Randall-Sundrum metric. Apart from the graviton zero mode, the brane accommodates quasi-bound massive states of higher spin contingent on the bulk mass. We estimate the mass and lifetime of these higher-spin resonances, which may appear as metastable dark matter in a braneworld universe.
We consider a brane cosmology scenario by taking an inflating 3D domain wall immersed in a five-dimensional Minkowski space in the presence of a stack of $N$ parallel domain walls. They are static BPS solutions of the bosonic sector of a 5D supergrav ity theory. However, one can move towards each other due to an attractive force in between driven by bulk particle collisions and {it resonant tunneling effect}. The accelerating domain wall is a 3-brane that is assumed to be our inflating early Universe. We analyze this inflationary phase governed by the inflaton potential induced on the brane. We compute the slow-roll parameters and show that the spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio are within the recent observational data.
