In this paper we develop two coadjoint orbit constructions for the phase spaces of the generalised $Sl(2)$ and $Sl(3)$ KdV hierachies. This involves the construction of two group actions in terms of Yang Baxter operators, and an Hamiltonian reduction of the coadjoint orbits. The Poisson brackets are reproduced by the Kirillov construction. From this construction we obtain a `natural gauge fixing proceedure for the generalised hierarchies.

The main purpose of this paper is calculation of differential invariants which arise from prolonged actions of two Lie groups SL(2) and SL(3) on the $n$th jet space of $R^2$. It is necessary to calculate $n$th prolonged infenitesimal generators of the action.
Let $n>1$ be an integer, $alphain{mathbb C}^n$, $bin{mathbb C}$, and $V$ a $mathfrak{gl}_n$-module. We define a class of weight modules $F^alpha_{b}(V)$ over $sl_{n+1}$ using the restriction of modules of tensor fields over the Lie algebra of vector fields on $n$-dimensional torus. In this paper we consider the case $n=2$ and prove the irreducibility of such 5-parameter $mathfrak{sl}_{3}$-modules $F^alpha_{b}(V)$ generically. All such modules have infinite dimensional weight spaces and lie outside of the category of Gelfand-Tsetlin modules. Hence, this construction yields new families of irreducible $mathfrak{sl}_{3}$-modules.

We present a q-difference realization of the quantum superalgebra U_q(sl(M|N)), which includes Grassmann even and odd coordinates and their derivatives. Based on this result we obtain a free boson realization of the quantum affine superalgebra U_q(widehat{sl}(2|1)) of an arbitrary level k.
An extended field theory is presented that captures the full SL(2) x O(6,6+n) duality group of four-dimensional half-maximal supergravities. The theory has section constraints whose two inequivalent solutions correspond to minimal D=10 supergravity a nd chiral half-maximal D=6 supergravity, respectively coupled to vector and tensor multiplets. The relation with O(6,6+n) (heterotic) double field theory is thoroughly discussed. Non-Abelian interactions as well as background fluxes are captured by a deformation of the generalised diffeomorphisms. Finally, making use of the SL(2) duality structure, it is shown how to generate gaugings with non-trivial de Roo-Wagemans angles via generalised Scherk-Schwarz ansaetze. Such gaugings allow for moduli stabilisation including the SL(2) dilaton.
We study semiclassical string solutions that live on white regions of the LLM plane for a generic LLM geometry. These string excitations are labelled by conserved charges E, J and S and are thus holographically dual to operators in the SL(2) sector o f N = 4 super-Yang Mills made up of covariant derivatives acting on complex scalar fields Z. On the other hand, the LLM geometry itself is dual to an operator consisting of O(N^2) Z-fields so that the operators dual to our solutions, containing both the stringy excitation and background, are non-planar. In an appropriate short string limit we argue that the string solution we find should be dual to a localised SL(2) excitation in the gauge theory language. This allows us to perform a non-trivial check of the recent proposal that the dynamics of localised excitations should be identical, up to a rescaling of the t Hooft coupling, to the dynamics of those same excitations in the AdS5xS5 background
