We present some classical properties for non-abelian Yang-Mills theories that we extract directly from the Maxwells equations of the theory. We write the equations of motion for the SU(3) Yang-Mills theory using the language of Maxwells equations in both differential and integral forms. We show that vectorial gauge fields in this theory are non-fermionic sources for non-abelian electric and magnetic fields. These vectorial gauge fields are also responsible for the existence of magnetic monopoles. We build the continuity equation and the energy-momentum tensor for the non-abelian case.

Various gauge invariant but non-Yang-Mills dynamical models are discussed: Precis of Chern-Simons theory in (2+1)-dimensions and reduction to (1+1)-dimensional B-F theories; gauge theories for (1+1)-dimensional gravity-matter interactions; parity and gauge invariant mass term in (2+1)-dimensions.
In this work, we propose a $3D$ ensemble measure for center-vortex worldlines and chains equipped with non-Abelian degrees of freedom. We derive an effective field description for the center-element average where the vortices get represented by $N$ f lavors of effective Higgs fields transforming in the fundamental representation. This field content is required to accommodate fusion rules where $N$ vortices can be created out of the vacuum. The inclusion of the chain sector, formed by center-vortex worldlines attached to pointlike defects, leads to a discrete set of $Z(N)$ vacua. This type of SSB pattern supports the formation of a stable domain wall between quarks, thus accommodating not only a linear potential but also the Luscher term. Moreover, after a detailed analysis of the associated field equations, the asymptotic string tension turns out to scale with the quadratic Casimir of the antisymmetric quark representation. These behaviors reproduce those derived from Monte Carlo simulations in $SU(N)$ $3D$ Yang-Mills theory, which lacked understanding in the framework of confinement as due to percolating magnetic defects.
Quantum properties of topological Yang-Mills theory in (anti-)self-dual Landau gauge were recently investigated by the authors. We extend the analysis of renormalizability for two generalized classes of gauges; each of them depending on one gauge par ameter. The (anti-)self-dual Landau gauge is recovered at the vanishing of each gauge parameter. The theory shows itself to be renormalizable in these classes of gauges. Moreover, we discuss the ambiguity on the choice of the renormalization factors (which is not present in usual Yang-Mills theories) and argue a possible origin of such ambiguity.
We investigate a dynamical mass generation mechanism for the off-diagonal gluons and ghosts in SU(N) Yang-Mills theories, quantized in the maximal Abelian gauge. Such a mass can be seen as evidence for the Abelian dominance in that gauge. It originat es from the condensation of a mixed gluon-ghost operator of mass dimension two, which lowers the vacuum energy. We construct an effective potential for this operator by a combined use of the local composite operators technique with algebraic renormalization and we discuss the gauge parameter independence of the results. We also show that it is possible to connect the vacuum energy, due to the mass dimension two condensate discussed here, with the non-trivial vacuum energy originating from the condensate <A^2>, which has attracted much attention in the Landau gauge.
We consider the partition function and correlation functions in the bosonic and supersymmetric Yang-Mills matrix models with compact semi-simple gauge group. In the supersymmetric case, we show that the partition function converges when $D=4,6$ and 1 0, and that correlation functions of degree $k< k_c=2(D-3)$ are convergent independently of the group. In the bosonic case we show that the partition function is convergent when $D geq D_c$, and that correlation functions of degree $k < k_c$ are convergent, and calculate $D_c$ and $k_c$ for each group, thus extending our previous results for SU(N). As a special case these results establish that the partition function and a set of correlation functions in the IKKT IIB string matrix model are convergent.
