In an attempt to describe the change of topological structure of pure SU(2) gauge theory near deconfinement a renormalization group inspired method is tested. Instead of cooling, blocking and subsequent inverse blocking is applied to Monte Carlo configurations to capture topological features at a well-defined scale. We check that this procedure largely conserves long range physics like string tension. UV fluctuations and lattice artefacts are removed which otherwise spoil topological charge density and Abelian monopole currents. We report the behaviour of topological susceptibility and monopole current densities across the deconfinement transition and relate the two faces of topology to each other. First results of a cluster analysis are described.

We investigate SU(2) lattice gauge theory in four dimensions in the maximally abelian projection. Studying the effects on different lattice sizes we show that the deconfinement transition of the fields and the percolation transition of the monopole c urrents in the three space dimensions are precisely related. To arrive properly at this result the uses of a mathematically sound characterization of the occurring networks of monopole currents and of an appropriate method of gauge fixing turn out to be crucial. In addition we investigate detailed features of the monopole structure in time direction.
The topological structure of lattice gluodynamics is studied at intermediate resolution scale in the deconfining phase with the help of a cluster analysis. UV filtered topological charge densities are determined from a fixed number of low-lying eigen modes of the overlap Dirac operator with three types of temporal boundary conditions applied to the valence quark fields. This method usually allows to find all three distinguished (anti)dyon constituents in the gauge field of Kraan-van Baal-Lee-Lu (anti)caloron solutions. The clustering of the three topological charge densities in Monte Carlo generated configurations is then used to mark the positions of anticipated (anti)dyons of the corresponding type. In order to support this interpretation, inside these clusters, we search also for time-like Abelian monopole currents (defined in the maximally Abelian gauge) as well as for local holonomies with at least two approximately degenerated eigenvalues. Our results support the view that light dyon-antidyon pairs - in contrast to the heavy (anti)caloron dyon constituents - contribute dominantly to thermal Yang-Mills fields in the deconfinement phase. This paper is dedicated to the memory of Pierre van Baal and Dmitri Igorevich Diakonov who have influenced our work very much.

The main result is a computation of the Nahm transform of a SU(2)-instanton over RxT^3, called spatially-periodic instanton. It is a singular monopole over T^3, a solution to the Bogomolny equation, whose rank is computed and behavior at the singular points is described.
In this contribution we review some recent results about the emergence of 2D integrable systems in 3D Lattice Gauge Theories near the deconfinement transition. We focus on some concrete examples involving the flux tube thickness, the ratio of k-strin g tensions and Polyakov loops correlators in various models.

The number and the location of monopoles in Lattice configurations depend on the choice of the gauge, in contrast to the obvious requirement that monopoles, as physical objects, have a gauge-invariant status. It is proved, starting from non-abelian Bianchi identities, that monopoles are indeed gauge-invariant: the technique used to detect them has instead an efficiency which depends on the choice of the abelian projection, in a known and well understood way.
