At high energies on a cosmological brane of Randall-Sundrum type, particle interactions can produce gravitons that are emitted into the bulk and that can feed a bulk black hole. We generalize previous investigations of such radiating brane-worlds by allowing for a breaking of Z_2-symmetry, via different bulk cosmological constants and different initial black hole masses on either side of the brane. One of the notable features of asymmetry is a suppression of the asymptotic level of dark radiation, which means that nucleosynthesis constraints are easier to satisfy. There are also models where the radiation escapes to infinity on one or both sides, rather than falling into a black hole, but these models can have negative energy density on the brane.

We derive a system of cosmological equations for a braneworld with induced curvature which is a junction between several bulk spaces. The permutation symmetry of the bulk spaces is not imposed, and the values of the fundamental constants, and even th e signatures of the extra dimension, may be different on different sides of the brane. We then consider the usual partial case of two asymmetric bulk spaces and derive an exact closed system of scalar equations on the brane. We apply this result to the cosmological evolution on such a brane and describe its various partial cases.
In this article we study a generalization of DGP scenarios, where the induced gravity is given by a $f(R)$ term. We obtain the effective gravitational equations and the effective FLRW cosmological equation on the brane of this model. We show that thi s generalization has also two regime, a 5D regime a low energies that has a self-accelerated branch of interest for cosmology and a 4D regime at high energies that it is described a modified gravitational theory.
The Randall-Sundrum scenario, with a 1+3-dimensional brane in a 5-dimensional bulk spacetime, can be generalized in various ways. We consider the case where the Z2-symmetry at the brane is relaxed, and in addition the gravitational action is generali zed to include an induced gravity term on the brane. We derive the complete set of equations governing the gravitational dynamics for a general brane and bulk, and identify how the asymmetry and the induced gravity act as effective source terms in the projected field equations on the brane. For a Friedmann brane in an anti de Sitter bulk, the solution of the Friedmann equation is given by the solution of a quartic equation. We find the perturbative solutions for small asymmetry, which has an effect at late times.

We discuss the merger process of binary black holes with Hawking radiation taken into account. Besides the redshifted radiation to infinity, binary black holes can exchange radiation between themselves, which is first redshifted and then blueshifted when it propagates from one hole to the other. The exchange rate should be large when the temperature-divergent horizons are penetrating each other to form a single horizon with unique temperature. This will cause non-negligible mass and angular momentum transfer between the black holes during the merging process of the horizons. We further argue in the large mass ratio limit that the light hole whose local evaporation is enhanced by the competing redshift-blueshift effects will probably evaporate or decay completely before reaching the the horizon of the heavy one. We also discuss the possibility of testing Hawking radiation and even exploring the information loss puzzle in gravitational wave observations.
We propose a new higher-dimensional mechanism to localize scalar fields as well as fermionic and gauge fields. The underlying theory is a six-dimensional non-commutative field theory where non-commutativity is allowed along two extra infinite spatial dimensions and the four-dimensional brane is provided by a scalar soliton living in the non-commutative space. Making use of the powerful correspondence between non-commutative coordinates and operators on a single particle Hilbert space, we show that the non-commutative brane world admits localized chiral fermions and it ensures the localization of massless gauge fields. It may also give rise to a variety of different low-energy spectra since the localized zero mode may come along either with a discrete tower of degenerate heavy states or with a tower of Kaluza-Klein heavy states, or it may even be the only state in the low-energy spectrum.
