Recently found accelarated expansion of our Universe is due to the presence of a new kind of matter called $Lambda$ - field or quintessence. The limitations on its equation of state are found from the fact of its unclustering at all scales much smaller than the cosmological horizon. It is discussed how these limitations affect on the possibility to approximate the accelarated expansion by such cosmological models as the model of Chaplygin gas.

We investigate how an equation of state for matter is affected when a gravity is present. For this purpose, we consider a box of ideal gas in the presence of Newtonian gravity. In addition to the ordinary thermodynamic quantities, a characteristic va riable that represents a weight per unit area relative to the average pressure is required in order to describe a macroscopic state of the gas. Although the density and the pressure are not uniform due to the presence of gravity, the ideal gas law itself is satisfied for the thermodynamic quantities when averaged over the system. Assuming that the system follows an adiabatic process further, we obtain a {it new} relation between the averaged pressure and density, which differs from the conventional equation of state for the ideal gas in the absence of gravity. Applying our results to a small volume in a Newtonian star, however, we find that the conventional one is reliable for most astrophysical situations when the characteristic scale is small. On the other hand, gravity effects become significant near the surface of a Newtonian star.

The structure of the equation of state $omega$ could be very complicate in nature while a few linear models have been successful in cosmological predictions. Linear models are treated as leading approximation of a complete Taylor series in this paper . If the power series converges quickly, one can freely truncate the series order by order. Detailed convergent analysis on the choices of the expansion parameters is presented in this paper. The related power series for the energy density function, the Hubble parameter and related physical quantities of interest are also computed in this paper.
Gravitational-wave measurements of the tidal deformability in neutron-star binary coalescences can be used to infer the still unknown equation of state (EoS) of dense matter above the nuclear saturation density. By employing a Bayesian-ranking test w e quantify the ability of current and future gravitational-wave observations to discriminate among families of realistic EoS which differ in particle content and ab-initio microscopic calculations. While the constraining power of GW170817 is limited, stringent constraints can be placed with approximately 10 coalescences detected by LIGO-Virgo at design sensitivity, but only for relatively stiff EoS which are already marginally in tension with GW170817. However, we show that even just a single detection with a third-generation detector such as the Einstein Telescope or Cosmic Explorer will rule out several families of EoS with very strong statistical significance, and can discriminate among models which feature similar softness, hence constraining the properties of nuclear matter to unprecedented levels.
We perform an analysis where Einsteins field equation is derived by means of very simple thermodynamical arguments. Our derivation is based on a consideration of the properties of a very small, spacelike two-plane in a uniformly accelerating motion.
A unique constraint is defined within the framework of scalar-tensor theories, whereby the conformal factor is fixed to the fluctuation associated to the effective mass of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for a Klein-Gordon field. The effective mass is e xtended to its exponential form to remove any ghost (energy) states. The constraints Lagrange multiplier $lambda$, referred to as the mediating field, is shown to act as a mediator between the scalar and tensor degrees of freedom. In its linear form, Heisenbergs uncertainty principle appears as a natural artifact of the mediating field. In its exponential form, the mediating field is shown to be bound, nonsingular, and of increasing significance for smaller masses. Furthermore, in acquiring the stress-energy tensors, the cosmological constant $Lambda$ is formulated for a stationary solution of the particle density and mediating field. As a result, the mysterious variation in $Lambda$ is properly evaluated from its cosmological value to that of an electron, from which a 77 order difference is obtained. In our final remarks, the mediating field $lambda$ is suggested to be characteristic of the vacuums energy density.
