Metal/superconductor/semiconductor (Ag/HgBaCaCuO/CdSe) heterostructures have been successfully fabricated using pulse-electrodeposition technique. The electrochemical parameters are optimized and diffusion free growth of CdSe onto Ag/HgBaCaCuO was obtained by employing under-potential deposition and by studying nucleation and growth mechanism during deposition. The heterostructures are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), full-width at half-maximum (FWHM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies and low temperature four probe electrical resistivity measurements. After the deposition of CdSe the critical transition temperature of HgBaCaCuO films was found be increased from 115 K with Jc = 1.7 x 103 A/cm2 to 117.2 K with Jc = 1.91 x 103 A/cm2. When the heterostructure was irradiated with red He-Ne laser (2 mW), the Tc was further enhanced to 120.3 K with Jc = 3.7 x 103 A/cm2. This increase in superconducting parameters of HgBaCaCuO in Ag/ HgBaCaCuO/CdSe heterostructure has been explained at length in this paper. Keywords. We have successfully synthesized FeSe films by the electrochemical deposition in the electrolyte containing FeCl_{2}cdot4H_{2}O, SeO_{2} and Na_{2}SO_{4}. The composition ratio of Fe and Se was controlled by the synthesis voltage and pH value. The Fe Se film with the composition ratio of Fe : Se = 1 : 1 is fabricated at a voltage of -0.9 V and pH 2.1 in our electrochemical deposition. This sample has a highly crystalline tetragonal FeSe structure and exhibits a superconducting transition at 8.1 K, comparable to FeSe synthesized by other methods.

Three-dimensional topological insulators (TIs) attract much attention due to its topologically protected Dirac surface states. Doping into TIs or their proximity with normal superconductors can promote the realization of topological superconductivity (SC) and Majorana fermions with potential applications in quantum computations. Here, an emergent superconductivity was observed in local mesoscopic point-contacts on the topological insulator Bi2Se3 by applying a voltage pulse through the contacts, evidenced by the Andreev reflection peak in the point-contact spectra and a visible resistance drop in the four-probe electrical resistance measurements. More intriguingly, the superconductivity can be erased with thermal cycles by warming up to high temperatures (300 K) and induced again by the voltage pulse at the base temperature (1.9 K), suggesting a significance for designing new types of quantum devices. Nematic behaviour is also observed in the superconducting state, similar to the case of CuxBi2Se3 as topological superconductor candidates.
We analyse the possibility of the appearance of spontaneous currents in proximated superconducting/normal metal (S/N) heterostructure when Cooper pairs penetrate into the normal metal from the superconductor. In particular, we calculate the free ener gy of the S/N structure. We show that whereas the free energy of the N film $F_{N}$ in the presence of the proximity effect increases compared to the normal state, the total free energy, which includes the boundary term $F_{B}$, decreases. The condensate current decreases $F_{N}$, but increases the total free energy making the current-carrying state of the S/N system energetically unfavorable.
Due to the lack of a net magnetization both at the interface and in the bulk, antiferromagnets with compensated interfaces may appear incapable of influencing the phase transition in an adjacent superconductor via the spin degree of freedom. We here demonstrate that such an assertion is incorrect by showing that proximity-coupling a compensated antiferromagnetic layer to a superconductor-ferromagnet heterostructure introduces the possibility of controlling the superconducting phase transition. The superconducting critical temperature can in fact be modulated by rotating the magnetization of the single ferromagnetic layer within the plane of the interface, although the system is invariant under rotations of the magnetization in the absence of the antiferromagnetic layer. Moreover, we predict that the superconducting phase transition can trigger a reorientation of the ground state magnetization. Our results show that a compensated antiferromagnetic interface is in fact able to distinguish between different spin-polarizations of triplet Cooper pairs.
