Real stabilizer operators, which are also known as real Clifford operators, are generated, through composition and tensor product, by the Hadamard gate, the Pauli Z gate, and the controlled-Z gate. We introduce a normal form for real stabilizer circuits and show that every real stabilizer operator admits a unique normal form. Moreover, we give a finite set of relations that suffice to rewrite any real stabilizer circuit to its normal form.

Consider the universal gate set for quantum computing consisting of the gates X, CX, CCX, omega^dagger H, and S. All of these gates have matrix entries in the ring Z[1/2,i], the smallest subring of the complex numbers containing 1/2 and i. Amy, Glaud ell, and Ross proved the converse, i.e., any unitary matrix with entries in Z[1/2,i] can be realized by a quantum circuit over the above gate set using at most one ancilla. In this paper, we give a finite presentation by generators and relations of U_n(Z[1/2,i]), the group of unitary nxn-matrices with entries in Z[1/2,i].
Quantum simulators and processors are rapidly improving nowadays, but they are still not able to solve complex and multidimensional tasks of practical value. However, certain numerical algorithms inspired by the physics of real quantum devices prove to be efficient in application to specific problems, related, for example, to combinatorial optimization. Here we implement a numerical annealer based on simulating the coherent Ising machine as a tool to sample from a high-dimensional Boltzmann probability distribution with the energy functional defined by the classical Ising Hamiltonian. Samples provided by such a generator are then utilized for the partition function estimation of this distribution and for the training of a general Boltzmann machine. Our study opens up a door to practical application of numerical quantum-inspired annealers.

We investigate properties of exponential operators preserving the particle number using combinatorial methods developed in order to solve the boson normal ordering problem. In particular, we apply generalized Dobinski relations and methods of multiva riate Bell polynomials which enable us to understand the meaning of perturbation-like expansions of exponential operators. Such expansions, obtained as formal power series, are everywhere divergent but the Pade summation method is shown to give results which very well agree with exact solutions got for simplified quantum models of the one mode bosonic systems.
Quantum random number generators (QRNG) based on continuous variable (CV) quantum fluctuations offer great potential for their advantages in measurement bandwidth, stability and integrability. More importantly, it provides an efficient and extensible path for significant promotion of QRNG generation rate. During this process, real-time randomness extraction using information theoretically secure randomness extractors is vital, because it plays critical role in the limit of throughput rate and implementation cost of QRNGs. In this work, we investigate parallel and real-time realization of several Toeplitz-hashing extractors within one field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for parallel QRNG. Elaborate layout of Toeplitz matrixes and efficient utilization of hardware computing resource in the FPGA are emphatically studied. Logic source occupation for different scale and quantity of Toeplitz matrices is analyzed and two-layer parallel pipeline algorithm is delicately designed to fully exploit the parallel algorithm advantage and hardware source of the FPGA. This work finally achieves a real-time post-processing rate of QRNG above 8 Gbps. Matching up with integrated circuit for parallel extraction of multiple quantum sideband modes of vacuum state, our demonstration shows an important step towards chip-based parallel QRNG, which could effectively improve the practicality of CV QRNGs, including device trusted, device-independent, and semi-device-independent schemes.

We investigate whether a trade-off relation between the diagonal elements of the mean square error matrix exists for the two-parameter unitary models with mutually commuting generators. We show that the error trade-off relation which exists in our mo dels of a finite dimension system is a generic phenomenon in the sense that it occurs with a finite volume in the spate space. We analyze a qutrit system to show that there can be an error trade-off relation given by the SLD and RLD Cramer-Rao bounds that intersect each other. First, we analyze an example of the reference state showing the non-trivial trade-off relation numerically, and find that its eigenvalues must be in a certain range to exhibit the trade-off relation. For another example, one-parameter family of reference states, we analytically show that the non-trivial relation always exists and that the range where the trade-off relation exists is up to about a half of the possible range.
