We compute the exclusive electroproduction, $gamma^* p rightarrow V p$, of heavy quarkonia $V$ to NLO in the collinear factorisation scheme, which has been formally proven for this process. The inclusion of an off-shell virtuality $Q^2$ carried by the photon extends the photoproduction phase space of the exclusive heavy quarkonia observable to electroproduction kinematics. This process is relevant for diffractive scattering at HERA and the upcoming EIC, as well as at the proposed LHeC and FCC.

In this talk various spin effects in hard exclusive electroproduction of mesons are briefly reviewed and the data discussed in the light of recent theoretical calculations within the frame work of the handbag approach. For electroproduction of positi vely charged pions it is shown that there is a strong contribution from photon-pion transitions which can be modeled by the transversity GPD H_T accompanied by the twist-3 pion wave function.
We present results for higher-order corrections to exclusive $mathrm{J}/psi$ production. This includes the first relativistic correction of order $v^2$ in quark velocity, and next-to-leading order corrections in $alpha_s$ for longitudinally polarized production. The relativistic corrections are found to be important for a good description of the HERA data, especially at small values of the photon virtuality. The next-to-leading order results for longitudinal production are evaluated numerically. We also demonstrate how the vector meson production provides complementary information to the structure functions for extracting the initial condition for the small-$x$ evolution of the dipole-proton scattering amplitude.
The process of exclusive electroproduction of vector quarkonium (EEQ), $e pto epV$, is per se an interesting topic in studies of quarkonium production mechanism, QCD description of diffractive interaction and nucleon structure. We investigate this pr ocess in the framework of nonrelativistic QCD and QCD collinear factorization at the next-to-leading order QCD accuracy. The perturbative convergence behavior is discussed in a large range of photon virtuality $Q^2$. The $J/psi$ large-$Q^2$ electroproduction data at HERA can be well explained, and the $Upsilon$ differential production rate is predicted. The uncertainties in theoretical predictions with radiative corrections are greatly reduced. Notice the EEQ process is extremely sensitive to the gluon distribution in nucleon, the generalized parton distribution, our results will constraint the gluon density with high precision while confronting to the future experimental data. For the sake of comparing convenience, the analytic expressions are provided.

We review one-particle inclusive production of heavy-flavored hadrons in a framework which resums the large collinear logarithms through the evolution of the FFs and PDFs and, at the same time, retains the full dependence on the heavy-quark mass with out additional theoretical assumptions. The main focus is on the production of D^* mesons in deep inelastic electron--proton scattering at HERA. We show results, neglecting for the time being the heavy-quark mass terms, for deep inelastic D^* meson production at finite transverse momenta. Work to implement this process in the above mentioned massive QCD framework is in progress.
Nucleon resonance contributions to the inclusive proton $F_2$ and $F_L$ structure functions are computed from resonance electroexcitation amplitudes in the mass range up to 1.75 GeV extracted from CLAS exclusive meson electroproduction data. Taking i nto account for the first time quantum interference effects, the resonance contributions are compared with inclusive proton structure functions evaluated from $(e,eX)$ cross section data and the longitudinal to transverse cross section ratio. Contributions from isospin-1/2 and 3/2 resonances remain substantial over the entire range of photon virtualities $Q^2 lesssim 4$ GeV$^2$, where their electroexcitation amplitudes have been obtained, and their $Q^2$ evolution displays pronounced differences in the first, second and third resonance regions. We compare the structure functions in the resonance region with those computed from parton distributions fitted to deep-inelastic scattering data, and extrapolated to the resonance region, providing new quantitative assessments of quark-hadron duality in inclusive electron-proton scattering.
