The bosonic large-$N$ master field of the IIB matrix model can, in principle, give rise to an emergent classical spacetime. The task is then to calculate this master field as a solution of the bosonic master-field equation. We consider a simplified version of the algebraic bosonic master-field equation and take dimensionality $D=2$ and matrix size $N=6$. For an explicit realization of the pseudorandom constants entering this simplified algebraic equation, we establish the existence of a solution and find, after diagonalization of one of the two obtained matrices, a band-diagonal structure of the other matrix.

It has been argued that the bosonic large-$N$ master field of the IIB matrix model can give rise to an emergent classical spacetime. In a recent paper, we have obtained solutions of a simplified bosonic master-field equation from a related matrix mod el. In this simplified equation, the effects of dynamic fermions were removed. We now consider the exact bosonic master-field equation from a related supersymmetric matrix model for dimensionality $D=3$ and matrix size $N=3$. In this exact equation, the effects of dynamic fermions are included. With an explicit realization of the pseudorandom constants entering this algebraic equation, we establish the existence of nontrivial solutions. The small matrix size, however, does not allow us to make a definite statement as to the appearance of a diagonal/band-diagonal structure in the obtained matrices.

We review our proposal for a constructive definition of superstring, type IIB matrix model. The IIB matrix model is a manifestly covariant model for space-time and matter which possesses N=2 supersymmetry in ten dimensions. We refine our arguments to reproduce string perturbation theory based on the loop equations. We emphasize that the space-time is dynamically determined from the eigenvalue distributions of the matrices. We also explain how matter, gauge fields and gravitation appear as fluctuations around dynamically determined space-time.
We show that Yang-Mills matrix integrals remain convergent when a Myers term is added, and stay in the same topological class as the original model. It is possible to add a supersymmetric Myers term and this leaves the partition function invariant.

Assuming that the large-$N$ master field of the Lorentzian IIB matrix model has been obtained, we go through the procedure of how the coordinates of emerging spacetime points can be extracted. Explicit calculations with test master fields suggest tha t the genuine IIB-matrix-model master field may have a fine-structure that is essential for producing the spacetime points of an expanding universe.

The large-$N$ master field of the Lorentzian IIB matrix model is of course not known, but we can assume that we already have it and investigate how the emerging spacetime metric could be extracted. We show that, in principle, it is possible to obtain both the Minkowski metric and the spatially flat Robertson-Walker metric.
