The multiorbital Hubbard model in the strong coupling limit is analyzed for the effectively antiferromagnetic Hunds coupling relevant to fulleride superconductors with three orbitals per molecule. The localized spin-orbital model describes the thermodynamics of the half-filled (three-electron) state with total spin-1/2, composed of singlon and doublon placed on the two of three orbitals. The model is solved using the mean-field approximation and magnetic and electric ordered states are clarified through the temperature dependences of the order parameters. Combining the model with the band structure from {it ab initio} calculation, we also semi-quantitavely analyze the realistic model and the corresponding physical quantities. In the A15-structure fulleride model, there is an antiferromagnetic ordered state, and subsequently the two orbital ordered state appears at lower temperatures. It is argued that the origin of these orbital orders is related to the $T_h$ point group symmetry. As for the fcc-fulleride model, the time-reversal broken orbital ordered state is identified. Whereas the spin degeneracy remains in our treatment for the geometrically frustrated lattice, it is expected to be lifted by some magnetic ordering or quantum fluctuations, but not by the spin-orbital coupling which is effectively zero for fullerides in the strong-coupling regime.

A spin-fermion model that captures the charge-transfer properties of Cu-based high critical temperature superconductors is introduced and studied via Monte Carlo simulations. The strong Coulomb repulsion among $d$-electrons in the Cu orbitals is phen omenologically replaced by an exchange coupling between the spins of the itinerant electrons and localized spins at the Cu sites, formally similar to double-exchange models for manganites. This interaction induces a charge-transfer insulator gap in the undoped case (five electrons per unit cell). Adding a small antiferromagnetic Heisenberg coupling between localized spins reinforces the global tendency towards antiferromagnetic order. To perform numerical calculations the localized spins are considered classical, as in previous related efforts. In this first study, undoped and doped $8times 8$ clusters are analyzed in a wide range of temperatures. The numerical results reproduce experimental features in the one-particle spectral function and the density-of-states such as $(i)$ the formation of a Zhang-Rice-like band with a dispersion of order $sim 0.5$ eV and with rotational symmetry about wavevector $(pi/2,pi/2)$ at the top of the band, and $(ii)$ the opening of a pseudogap at the chemical potential upon doping. We also observed incipient tendencies towards spin incommensurability. This simple model offers a formalism intermediate between standard mean-field approximations, that fail at finite temperatures in regimes with short-range order, and sophisticated many-body techniques such as Quantum Monte Carlo, that suffer sign problems.
We study a two-dimensional effective orbital superexchange model derived for strongly correlated e_g electrons coupled to t_{2g} core spins in layered manganites. One finds that the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic correlations closely compete, an d small changes of parameters can switch the type of magnetic order. For the same reason, spin order is easily destroyed with rising temperature, while alternating orbital correlations can persist to temperatures where FM order has already melted. A scenario for the AF phase observed in LaSrMnO_4 is presented.
Motivated by the recent experimental report of a possible light-induced superconductivity in A3C60 at high temperature [Mitrano et al., Nature 530, 451 (2016)], we investigate theoretical mechanisms for enhanced superconductivity in A3C60 fullerenes. We find that an `interaction imbalance corresponding to a smaller value of the Coulomb matrix element for two of the molecular orbitals in comparison to the third one, efficiently enhances superconductivity. Furthermore, we perform first-principle calculations of the changes in the electronic structure and in the screened Coulomb matrix elements of A3C60, brought in by the deformation associated with the pumped T1u intra-molecular mode. We find that an interaction imbalance is indeed induced, with a favorable sign and magnitude for superconductivity enhancement. The physical mechanism responsible for this enhancement consists in a stabilisation of the intra-molecular states containing a singlet pair, while preserving the orbital fluctuations allowing for a coherent inter-orbital delocalization of the pair. Other perturbations have also been considered and found to be detrimental to superconductivity. The light-induced deformation and ensuing interaction imbalance is shown to bring superconductivity further into the strong-coupling regime.
Strongly anisotropic spin-orbit coupling (SOC) renormalization and strongly enhanced orbital magnetic moments are obtained in the fully self consistent approach including the orbital off-diagonal spin and charge condensates. For moderate tetragonal d istortion as in $rm Ca_2 RuO_4$, dominantly planar antiferromagnetic (AFM) order with small canting of moments in and about the crystal $c$ axis are obtained. For reduced tetragonal distortion, we find a tunable regime wherein the magnetic order can be tuned (AFM or FM) by the bare SOC strength and octahedral tilting magnitude. In this regime, with decreasing tetragonal distortion, AFM order is maintained by progressively decreasing octahedral tilting, as observed in $rm Ca_{2-x}Sr_x RuO_4$. For purely planar order, the only self consistent solution is FM order along crystal $b$ axis, which is relevant for the bilayer ruthenate compound $rm Ca_3 Ru_2 O_7$.

We describe a two-orbital tight-binding model with bases belonging to the $Gamma_8$ quartet. The model captures several characteristics of the Fermiology unravelled by the recent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopic (ARPES) measurements on ceri um hexaboride CeB$_6$ samples cleaved along different high-symmetry crystallographic directions, which includes the ellipsoid-like Fermi surfaces (FSs) with major axes directed along $Gamma$-X. We calculate various multipolar susceptibilities within the model and identify the susceptibility that shows the strongest divergence in the presence of standard onsite Coulomb interactions and discuss its possible implication and relevance with regard to the signature of strong ferromagnetic correlations existent in various phases as shown by the recent experiments.
