We consider a broad class of massive four dimensional effective theories describing an infinite tower of charged massive spin 1 states, interacting with massless spin 1 and spin 0. The spectrum is chosen to be the same as that appears in the Kaluza-Klein theory reduction of 5d Yang-Mills to ensure the absence of any spurious poles in a possible double copy formulation. The effective theories are characterized by multiple different couplings between different fields which are unconstrained by symmetries and low energy criteria. Remarkably, by demanding that the scattering amplitudes preserve colour-kinematics duality for different scattering processes, required for the existence of a massive double copy, we find that our 4d Lagrangian is fixed uniquely to the Kaluza-Klein compactification of 5d Yang-Mills theory together with its known double copy consistent higher derivative operators.

The discovery of colour-kinematics duality has allowed great progress in our understanding of the UV structure of gravity. However, it has proven difficult to find numerators which satisfy colour-kinematics duality in certain cases. We discuss obstac les to building a set of such numerators in the context of the five-gluon amplitude with all helicities positive at two loops. We are able to overcome the obstacles by adding more loop momentum to our numerator to accommodate tension between the values of certain cuts and the symmetries of certain diagrams. At the same time, we maintain control over the size of our ansatz by identifying a highly constraining but desirable symmetry property of our master numerator. The resulting numerators have twelve powers of loop momenta rather than the seven one would expect from the Feynman rules.
We study the membrane wrapping mode corrections to the Kaluza-Klein (KK) 6-brane in eleven dimensions. We examine the localized KK6-brane in the extended space in $E_{7(7)}$ exceptional field theory. In order to discuss the physical origin of the loc alization in the extended space, we consider a probe M2-brane in eleven dimensions. We show that a three-dimensional $mathcal{N} = 4$ gauge theory is naturally interpreted as a membrane generalization of the two-dimensional $mathcal{N} = (4,4)$ gauged linear sigma model for the fundamental string. We point out that the vector field in the $mathcal{N}= 4$ model is identified as a dual coordinate of the KK6-brane geometry. We find that the BPS vortex in the gauge theory gives rise to the violation of the isometry along the dual direction. We then show that the vortex corrections are regarded as an instanton effect in M-theory induced by the probe M2-brane wrapping around the M-circle.

The newly proposed island formula for entanglement entropy of Hawking radiation is applied to spherically symmetric 4-dimensional eternal Kaluza-Klein (KK) black holes (BHs). The charge $Q$ of a KK BH quantifies its deviation from a Schwarzschild BH. The impact of $Q$ on the island is studied at both early and late times. The early size of the island, emph{if exists}, is of order Planck length $ell_{mathrm{P}}$, and will be shortened by $Q$ by a factor $1/sqrt2$ at most. The late-time island, whose boundary is on the outside but within a Planckian distance of the horizon, is slightly extended. While the no-island entropy grows linearly, the late-time entanglement entropy is given by island configuration with twice the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. Thus we reproduce the Page curve for the eternal KK BHs. Compared with Schwarzschild results, the Page time and the scrambling time are marginally delayed. Moreover, the higher-dimensional generalization is presented. Skeptically, in both early and late times, there are Planck length scales involved, in which a semi-classical description of quantum fields breaks down.

The existence and stability analysis of an inflationary solution in a $D+4$-dimensional anisotropic induced gravity is presented in this paper. Nontrivial conditions in the field equations are shown to be compatible with a cosmological model in which the 4-dimension external space evolves inflationary, while, the D-dimension internal one is static. In particular, only two additional constraints on the coupling constants are derived from the abundant field equations and perturbation equations. In addition, a compact formula for the non-redundant 4+D dimensional Friedmann equation is also derived for convenience. Possible implications are also discussed in this paper.
We discuss Hawking radiation from a five-dimensional squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole on the basis of the tunneling mechanism. A simple manner, which was recently suggested by Umetsu, is possible to extend the original derivation by Parikh and Wilcze k to various black holes. That is, we use the two-dimensional effective metric, which is obtained by the dimensional reduction near the horizon, as the background metric. By using same manner, we derive both the desired result of the Hawking temperature and the effect of the back reaction associated with the radiation in the squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole background.
