We consider graphene superlattice miniband fermions probed by electronic interferometry in magneto-transport experiments. By decoding the observed Fabry-Perot interference patterns together with our corresponding quantum transport simulations, we find that the Dirac quasiparticles originating from the superlattice minibands do not undergo conventional cyclotron motion but follow more subtle trajectories. In particular, dynamics at low magnetic fields is characterized by peculiar, straight trajectory segments. Our results provide new insights into superlattice miniband fermions and open up novel possibilities to use periodic potentials in electron optics experiments.

We have investigated a new feature of impurity cyclotron resonances common to various localized potentials of graphene. A localized potential can interact with a magnetic field in an unexpected way in graphene. It can lead to formation of anomalous b oundstates that have a sharp peak with a width $R$ in the probability density inside the potential and a broad peak of size magnetic length $ell$ outside the potential. We investigate optical matrix elements of anomalous states, and find that they are unusually small and depend sensitively on magnetic field. The effect of many-body interactions on their optical conductivity is investigated using a self-consistent time-dependent Hartree-Fock approach (TDHFA). For a completely filled Landau level we find that an excited electron-hole pair, originating from the optical transition between two anomalous impurity states, is nearly uncorrelated with other electron-hole pairs, although it displays a substantial exchange self-energy effects. This absence of correlation is a consequence of a small vertex correction in comparison to the difference between renormalized transition energies computed within the one electron-hole pair approximation. However, an excited electron-hole pair originating from the optical transition between a normal and an anomalous impurity states can be substantially correlated with other electron-hole states with a significant optical strength.
We present the first measurements of cyclotron resonance of electrons and holes in bilayer graphene. In magnetic fields up to B = 18 T we observe four distinct intraband transitions in both the conduction and valence bands. The transition energies ar e roughly linear in B between the lowest Landau levels, whereas they follow sqrt{B} for the higher transitions. This highly unusual behavior represents a change from a parabolic to a linear energy dispersion. The density of states derived from our data generally agrees with the existing lowest order tight binding calculation for bilayer graphene. However in comparing data to theory, a single set of fitting parameters fails to describe the experimental results.
We study the conductance of disordered graphene superlattices with short-range structural correlations. The system consists of electron- and hole-doped graphenes of various thicknesses, which fluctuate randomly around their mean value. The effect of the randomness on the probability of transmission through the system of various sizes is studied. We show that in a disordered superlattice the quasiparticle that approaches the barrier interface almost perpendicularly transmits through the system. The conductivity of the finite-size system is computed and shown that the conductance vanishes when the sample size becomes very large, whereas for some specific structures the conductance tends to a nonzero value in the thermodynamics limit.
Electronic analogue of generalized Goos-H{a}nchen shifts is investigated in the monolayer graphene superlattice with one-dimensional periodic potentials of square barriers. It is found that the lateral shifts for the electron beam transmitted through the monolayer graphene superlattice can be negative as well as positive near the band edges of zero-$bar{k}$ gap, which are different from those near the band edges of Bragg gap. These negative and positive beam shifts have close relation to the Dirac point. When the condition $q_A d_A= -q_B d_B= m pi$ ($m=1,2,3...$) is satisfied, the beam shifts can be controlled from negative to positive when the incident energy is above the Dirac point, and vice versa. In addition, the beam shifts can be greatly enhanced by the defect mode inside the zero-$bar{k}$ gap. These intriguing phenomena can be verified in a relatively simple optical setup, and have potential applications in the graphene-based electron wave devices.

In solids, the high density of charged particles makes many-body interactions a pervasive principle governing optics and electronics[1-12]. However, Walter Kohn found in 1961 that the cyclotron resonance of Landau-quantized electrons is independent o f the seemingly inescapable Coulomb interaction between electrons[2]. While this surprising theorem has been exploited in sophisticated quantum phenomena[13-15] such as ultrastrong light-matter coupling[16], superradiance[17], and coherent control[18], the complete absence of nonlinearities excludes many intriguing possibilities, such as quantum-logic protocols[19]. Here, we use intense terahertz pulses to drive the cyclotron response of a two-dimensional electron gas beyond the protective limits of Kohns theorem. Anharmonic Landau ladder climbing and distinct terahertz four- and six-wave mixing signatures occur, which our theory links to dynamic Coulomb effects between electrons and the positively charged ion background. This new context for Kohns theorem unveils previously inaccessible internal degrees of freedom of Landau electrons, opening up new realms of ultrafast quantum control for electrons.
