The Hochschild cohomology of a tensor product of algebras is isomorphic to a graded tensor product of Hochschild cohomology algebras, as a Gerstenhaber algebra. A similar result holds when the tensor product is twisted by a bicharacter. We present new proofs of these isomorphisms, using Volkovs homotopy liftings that were introduced for handling Gerstenhaber brackets expressed on arbitrary bimodule resolutions. Our results illustrate the utility of homotopy liftings for theoretical purposes.

Over a field of prime characteristic $p>2$, we prove that the cohomology rings of some pointed Hopf algebras of dimension $p^3$ are finitely generated. These are Hopf algebras arising in the ongoing classification of finite dimensional Hopf algebras in positive characteristic, and include bosonizations of Nichols algebras of Jordan type in a general setting as well as their liftings when $p=3$. Our techniques are applications of twisted tensor product resolutions and Anick resolutions in combination with May spectral sequences.
We determine the Gerstenhaber structure on the Hochschild cohomology ring of a class of self-injective special biserial algebras. Each of these algebras is presented as a quotient of the path algebra of a certain quiver. In degree one, we show that t he cohomology is isomorphic, as a Lie algebra, to a direct sum of copies of a subquotient of the Virasoro algebra. These copies share Virasoro degree 0 and commute otherwise. Finally, we describe the cohomology in degree $n$ as a module over this Lie algebra by providing its decomposition as a direct sum of indecomposable modules.
In this paper we construct a graded Lie algebra on the space of cochains on a $mathbbZ_2$-graded vector space that are skew-symmetric in the odd variables. The Lie bracket is obtained from the classical Gerstenhaber bracket by (partial) skew-symmetri zation; the coboundary operator is a skew-symmetrized version of the Hochschild differential. We show that an order-one element $m$ satisfying the zero-square condition $[m,m]=0$ defines an algebraic structure called Lie antialgebra. The cohomology (and deformation) theory of these algebras is then defined. We present two examples of non-trivial cohomology classes which are similar to the celebrated Gelfand-Fuchs and Godbillon-Vey classes.
For some exact monoidal categories, we describe explicitly a connection between topological and algebraic definitions of the Lie bracket on the extension algebra of the unit object. The topological definition, due to Schwede and Hermann, involves loo ps in extension categories, and the algebraic definition involves homotopy liftings as introduced by the first author. As a consequence of our description, we prove that the topological definition indeed yields a Gerstenhaber algebra structure in the monoidal category setting, answering a question of Hermann. For use in proofs, we generalize $A_{infty}$-coderivation and homotopy lifting techniques from bimodule categories to some exact monoidal categories.
We find three families of twisting maps of K^m with K^n. One of them is related to truncated quiver algebras, the second one consists of deformations of the first and the third one requires m=n and yields algebras isomorphic to M_n(K). Using these fa milies and some exceptional cases we construct all twisting maps of K^3 with K^3.
