The new version of the gedanken experiment proposed by Sorce and Wald has been used to examine the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) for black holes at the second-order approximation of the matter fields perturbation. However, only considering the perturbation until the second-order approximation is incomplete because there is an optimal option such that the existing condition of the event horizon vanishes at second-order. For this circumstance, we cannot judge whether the WCCC is satisfied at this order. In our investigation, the $k$th-order perturbation inequality is generally derived. Using the inequalities, we examine the WCCC for nearly extremal Reissner-Nordst{o}m black holes at higher-order approximation. It is shown that the WCCC cannot be violated yet after the perturbation. From this result, it can be indicated that the WCCC is strictly satisfied at the perturbation level for nearly extremal RN black holes.

Sorce and Wald proposed a new version of gedanken experiments to examine the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) in Kerr-Newmann black holes. However, their discussion only includes the second-order approximation of perturbation and there exists an optimal condition such that the validity of the WCCC is determined by the higher-order approximations. Therefore, in this paper, we extended their discussions into the high-order approximations to study the WCCC in a nearly extremal Kerr black hole. After assuming that the spacetime satisfies the stability condition and the perturbation matter fields satisfy the null energy condition, based on the Noether charge method by Iyer and Wald, we completely calculate the first four order perturbation inequalities and discuss the corresponding gedanken experiment to overspin the Kerr black hole. As a result, we find that the nearly extremal Kerr black holes cannot be destroyed under the fourth-order approximation of perturbation. Then, by using the mathematical induction, we strictly prove the $n$th order perturbation inequality when the first $(n-1)$ order perturbation inequalities are saturated. Using these results, we discuss the first $100$ order approximation of the gedanken experiments and find that the WCCC in Kerr black hole is valid under the higher-order approximation of perturbation. Our investigation implies that the WCCC might be strictly satisfied in Kerr black holes under the perturbation level.
We study the pair production of charged scalar particles from the five-dimensional near extremal Reissner- Nordstrom-Anti de Sitter (RN-AdS5) black hole. The pair production rate and the absorption cross section ratio in the full spacetime are obtain ed and are shown to have proportional relation with their counterparts in the near horizon region. In addition, the holographic descriptions of the pair production both in the IR CFT in the near horizon region and the UV CFT at the asymptotic spatial boundary of the RN-AdS5 black hole are analyzed in the AdS2/CFT1and AdS5/CFT4correspondences, respectively. This work gives a complete description of scalar pair production in the near extremal RN-AdS5black hole.
We study the first-order in $alpha$ corrections to non-extremal 4-dimensional dyonic Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) black holes with equal electric and magnetic charges in the context of Heterotic Superstring effective field theory (HST) compactified on a $ T^{6}$. The particular embedding of the dyonic RN black hole in HST considered here is not supersymmetric in the extremal limit. We show that, at first order in $alpha$, consistency with the equations of motion of the HST demands additional scalar and vector fields become active, and we provide explicit expressions for all of them. We determine analytically the position of the event horizon of the black hole, as well as the corrections to the extremality bound, to the temperature and to the entropy, checking that they are related by the first law of black-hole thermodynamics, so that $partial S/partial M=1/T$. We discuss the implications of our results in the context of the Weak Gravity Conjecture, clarifying that entropy corrections for fixed mass and charge at extremality do not necessarily imply corrections to the extremal charge-to-mass ratio.

Based on the numerical conformal bootstrap bound, we show that the arbitrarily small Reissner-Nordstrom black hole in AdS space-time is inconsistent with holography unless the energy spectrum is modified quantum mechanically or it is unstable as indicated by the weak gravity conjecture.

Black holes display universal behavior near extremality. One such feature is the late-time blowup of derivatives of linearized perturbations across the horizon. For generic initial data, this instability is regulated by backreaction, and the final st ate is a near-extremal black hole. The aim of this paper is to study the late time behavior of such black holes analytically using the weakly broken conformal symmetry of their near-horizon region. In particular, gravitational backreaction is accounted for within the Jackiw-Teitelboim model for near-horizon, near-extremal dynamics coupled to bulk matter.
