We determined the quark mass matrix in terms of a small expansion parameter $sqrt{varepsilon}$, which gives correctly all the quark masses and the CKM matrix elements at the electroweak (EW) scale, and obtain a progenitor form at the GUT scale by running the EW scale mass matrix. Finally, a possible texture form for the progenitor quark mass matrix is suggested.

Starting from a new zeroth order basis for quark mixing (CKM) matrix based on the quark-lepton complementarity and the tri-bimaximal pattern of lepton mixing, we derive a triminimal parametrization of CKM matrix with three small angles and a CP-viola ting phase as its parameters. This new triminimal parametrization has the merits of fast convergence and simplicity in application. With the quark-lepton complementary relations, we derive relations between the two unified triminimal parametrizations for quark mixing obtained in this work and for lepton mixing obtained by Pakvasa-Rodejohann-Weiler. Parametrization deviating from quark-lepton complementarity is also discussed.

We discuss the implementation of the FONLL general-mass scheme for heavy quarks in deep-inelastic scattering in the FastKernel framework, used in the NNPDF series of global PDF analysis. We present the general features of FONLL and benchmark the accu racy of its implementation in FastKernel comparing with the Les Houches heavy quark benchmark tables. We then show preliminary results of the NNPDF2.1 analysis, in which heavy quark mass effects are included following the FONLL-A GM scheme.
We include finite top- and bottom-mass effects in the next-to-next-to-leading order parton shower (NNLOPS) event generator for inclusive Higgs boson production in gluon fusion based upon the POWHEG+MiNLO approach. Since fixed-order results for quark- mass effects only reach NLO accuracy, we add them to the NNLOPS generator at that accuracy. We explore uncertainties related to the unknown all-order logarithmic structure of bottom-mass effects by comparing the assumption of full exponentiation to no exponentiation at all. Phenomenological results showing the effects of finite quark-masses in the NNLOPS simulation are presented. These suggest that the aforementioned uncertainty is well contained within the envelope of plain renormalization and factorization scale uncertainties.
If physics beyond the Standard Model enters well above the electroweak scale, its low-energy effects are described by Standard Model Effective Field Theory. Already at dimension six many operators involve the antisymmetric quark tensor $bar q sigma^{ mu u} q$, whose matrix elements are difficult to constrain from experiment, Ward identities, or low-energy theorems, in contrast to the corresponding vector and axial-vector or even scalar and pseudoscalar currents. However, with normalizations determined from lattice QCD, analyticity and unitarity often allow one to predict the momentum dependence in a large kinematic range. Starting from recent results in the meson sector, we extend this method to the nucleon case and, in combination with pole dominance, provide a comprehensive assessment of the current status of the nucleon form factors of the quark tensor.

We address the propagation and hadronization of a struck quark by studying the gauge invariance of the color-averaged cut quark propagator, and by relating this to the single inclusive quark fragmentation correlator by means of new sum rules. Using s uitable Wilson lines, we provide a gauge-invariant definition for the mass of the color-averaged dressed quark and decompose this into the sum of a current and an interaction-dependent component. The latter, which we argue is an order parameter for dynamical chiral symmetry breaking, also appears in the sum rule for the twist-3 $tilde{E}$ fragmentation function, providing a specific experimental way to probe the dynamical generation of mass in Quantum Chromo Dynamics.
