The Schwarzschild singularity is known to be classically unstable. We demonstrate a simple holographic consequence of this fact, focusing on a perturbation that is uniform in boundary space and time. Deformation of the thermal state of the dual CFT by a relevant operator triggers a nonzero temperature holographic renormalization group flow in the bulk. This flow continues smoothly through the horizon and, at late interior time, deforms the Schwarzschild singularity into a more general Kasner universe. We show that the deformed near-singularity, trans-horizon Kasner exponents determine specific non-analytic corrections to the thermal correlation functions of heavy operators in the dual CFT, in the analytically continued `near-singularity regime.

We construct time-dependent charged black string solutions in five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory. In the far region, the spacetime approaches a five-dimensional Kasner universe with a expanding three-dimensional space and a shrinking extra dime nsion. Near the event horizon, the spacetime is approximately static and has a smooth event horizon. We also study the motion of test particles around the black string and show the existence of quasi-circular orbits. Finally, we briefly discuss the stability of this spacetime.

It is known that the $(a,c)$ central charges in four-dimensional CFTs are linear combinations of the three independent OPE coefficients of the stress-tensor three-point function. In this paper, we adopt the holographic approach using AdS gravity as a n effect field theory and consider higher-order corrections up to and including the cubic Riemann tensor invariants. We derive the holographic central charges and OPE coefficients and show that they are invariant under the metric field redefinition. We further discover a hidden relation among the OPE coefficients that two of them can be expressed in terms of the third using differential operators, which are the unit radial vector and the Laplacian of a four-dimensional hyperbolic space whose radial variable is an appropriate length parameter that is invariant under the field redefinition. Furthermore, we prove that the consequential relation $c=1/3 ell_{rm eff}partial a/partialell_{rm eff}$ and its higher-dimensional generalization are valid for massless AdS gravity constructed from the most general Riemann tensor invariants.

We parametrize the (2+1)-dimensional AdS space and the BTZ black hole with Fefferman-Graham coordinates starting from the AdS boundary. We consider various boundary metrics: Rindler, static de Sitter and FRW. In each case, we compute the holographic stress-energy tensor of the dual CFT and confirm that it has the correct form, including the effects of the conformal anomaly. We find that the Fefferman-Graham parametrization also spans a second copy of the AdS space, including a second boundary. For the boundary metrics we consider, the Fefferman-Graham coordinates do not cover the whole AdS space. We propose that the length of the line delimiting the excluded region at a given time can be identified with the entropy of the dual CFT on a background determined by the boundary metric. For Rindler and de Sitter backgrounds our proposal reproduces the expected entropy. For a FRW background it produces a generalization of the Cardy formula that takes into account the vacuum energy related to the expansion.
We construct analytic solutions of Einstein gravity coupled to a dilaton field with a potential given by a sum of two exponentials, by rewriting the equations of motion in terms of an integrable Toda chain. These solutions can be interpreted as domai n walls interpolating between different asymptotics, and as such they can have interesting applications in holography. In some cases, we can construct a solution which interpolates between an AdS fixed point in the UV limit and a hyperscaling violating boundary in the IR region. We also find analytic black brane solutions at finite temperature. We discuss the properties of the solutions and the interpretation in terms of RG flow.
A common method to prepare states in AdS/CFT is to perform the Euclidean path integral with sources turned on for single-trace operators. These states can be interpreted as coherent states of the bulk quantum theory associated to Lorentzian initial d ata on a Cauchy slice. In this paper, we discuss the extent to which arbitrary initial data can be obtained in this way. We show that the initial data must be analytic and define the subset of it that can be prepared by imposing bulk regularity. Turning this around, we show that for generic analytic initial data the corresponding Euclidean section contains singularities coming from delta function sources in the bulk. We propose an interpretation of these singularities as non-perturbative objects in the microscopic theory.
