We provide a precise geometric picture that demystifies the phenomenon of supersymmetry enhancement along certain RG flows of four-dimensional field theories, recently discovered by Maruyoshi and Song. It applies to theories of arbitrary rank and it is based on a hyperkahler-structure restoration on the moduli space of solutions of (twisted) Hitchin systems, which underly the class-S construction we use as an engineering tool. Along the way, we formulate a necessary algebraic condition for supersymmetry enhancement, and, when enhancement occurs, we are able to derive the Seiberg-Witten geometry and all conformal dimensions of Coulomb-branch operators for the infrared theory, without using a-maximization.

We use the F-theoretic engineering of four-dimensional rank-one superconformal field theories to provide a geometric understanding of the phenomenon of supersymmetry enhancement along the RG flow, recently observed by Maruyoshi and Song. In this cont ext, the superpotential deformations responsible for such flows are interpreted as T-brane backgrounds and encoded in the geometry of elliptically-fibered fourfolds. We formulate a simple algebraic criterion to select all supersymmetry-enhancing flows and, without any maximization process, derive the main features of the corresponding N=2 theories in the infrared.

We study the cross-section of heavy Higgs production at the LHC within the framework of the Constrained MSSM. It is not only enhanced by tan^2 beta but sometimes is also enhanced by the squark contribution. First, we consider the universal scenario w ithin mSUGRA and find out that to get the desired enhancement one needs large negative values of A_0, which seems to be incompatible with the b->s gamma decay rate. To improve the situation, we release the unification requirement in the Higgs sector. Then it becomes possible to satisfy all requirements simultaneously and enhance the squark contribution. The latter can gain a factor of several units increasing the overall cross-section which, however, is still smaller than the cross-section of the associated H b bbar production. We consider also some other consequences of the chosen benchmark point.
We point out that supersymmetric warped geometry can provide a solution to the SUSY flavor problem, while generating hierarchical Yukawa couplings. In supersymmetric theories in a slice of AdS_5 with the Kaluza-Klein scale M_KK much higher than the w eak scale, if all visible fields originate from 5D bulk fields and supersymmetry breaking is mediated by the bulk radion superfield and/or some brane chiral superfields, potentially dangerous soft scalar masses and trilinear $A$ parameters at M_KK can be naturally suppressed compared to the gaugino masses by small warp factor. We present simple models yielding phenomenologically interesting patterns of soft parameters in this framework.
We argue that in large classes of string compactifications with a MSSM-like structure substantial flavor violating SUSY-breaking soft terms are generically induced. We specify to the case of flavor dependent soft-terms in type IIB/F-theory SU(5) unif ied models, although our results can be easily extended to other settings. The Standard Model (SM) degrees of freedom reside in a local system of 7-branes wrapping a 4-fold S in the extra dimensions. It is known that in the presence of closed string 3-form fluxes SUSY-breaking terms are typically generated. We explore the generation dependence of these soft terms and find that non-universalities arise whenever the flux varies over the 4-fold S. These non-universalities are parametrically suppressed by (M_{GUT}/M_{Pl})^{1/3}. They also arise in the case of varying open string fluxes, in this case parametrically suppressed by alpha_{GUT}^{1/2}. For a standard unification scheme with M_{GUT} = 10^{16} GeV and alpha_{rm GUT} = 1/24 these suppressions are very mild. Although limits from the kaon mass difference Delta m_K are easily obeyed for squark masses above the present LHC limits, constraints from the CP-violation parameter epsilon_K imply squark masses in the multi-TeV region. The constraints from BR(mu rightarrow egamma) turn out to be the strongest ones, with slepton masses of order ~10 TeV or heavier required to obey the experimental limits. These sfermion masses are consistent with the observed large value m_H ~ 126 GeV of the Higgs mass. We discuss under what conditions such strong limits may be relaxed allowing for SUSY particle production at LHC.

The Cartan-Penrose (CP) equation is interpreted as a connection between a spinor at a point in spacetime, and a pair of holographic screens on which the information at that point may be projected. Local SUSY is thus given a physical interpretation in terms of the ambiguity of the choice of holographic screen implicit in the work of Bousso. The classical CP equation is conformally invariant, but quantization introduces metrical information via the B(ekenstein)-H(awking)-F(ischler)-S(usskind)-B(ousso) connection between area and entropy. A piece of the classical projective invariance survives as the $(-1)^F$ operation of Fermi statistics. I expand on a previously discussed formulation of quantum cosmology, using the connection between SUSY and screens.
