In a framework of a semi-analytic model with longitudinally extended strings of fluctuating end-points, we demonstrate that the rapidity spectra and two-particle correlations in collisions of Pb-Pb, p-Pb, and p-p at the energies of the Large Hadron Collider can be universally reproduced. In our approach, the strings are pulled by wounded constituents appearing in the Glauber modeling at the partonic level. The obtained rapidity profile for the emission of hadrons from a string yields bounds for the distributions of the end-point fluctuations. Then, limits for the two-particle-correlations in pseudorapidity can be obtained. Our results are favorably compared to recent experimental data from the ATLAS Collaboration.

It is now well established that jet modification is a multistage effect; hence a single model alone cannot describe all facets of jet modification. The JETSCAPE framework is a multistage framework that uses several modules to simulate different stage s of jet propagation through the QGP medium. These simulations require a set of parameters to ensure a smooth transition between stages. We fine tune these parameters to successfully describe a variety of observables, such as the nuclear modification factors of leading hadrons and jets, jet shape, and jet fragmentation function. Photons can be produced in the hard scattering or as radiation from quarks inside jets. In this work, we study photon-jet transverse momentum imbalance and azimuthal correlation for both $p-p$ and $Pb-Pb$ collision systems. All the photons produced in each event, including the photons from hard scattering, radiation from the parton shower, and radiation from hadronization are considered with an isolation cut to directly compare with experimental data. The simulations are conducted using the same set of tuned parameters as used for the jet analysis. No new parameters are introduced or tuned. We demonstrate a significantly improved agreement with photons from $Pb-Pb$ collisions compared to prior efforts. This work provides an independent, parameter free verification of the multistage evolution framework.

The thermalization of the particles produced in collisions of small size objects can be achieved by quantum entanglement of the partons of the initial state as it was analyzed recently in proton-proton collisions. We extend such study to Pb-Pb collis ions and to different multiplicities of proton-proton collisions. We observe that, in all cases, the effective temperature is approximately proportional to the hard scale of the collision. We show that such relation between the thermalization temperature and the hard scale can be explained as a consequence of the clustering of the color sources. The fluctuations on the number of parton states decreases with multiplicity in Pb-Pb collisions as far as the width of the transverse momentum distributions decreases, contrary to the p-p case. We relate these fluctuations to the temperature time fluctuations by means of a Langevin equation for the white noise due to the quench of a hard parton collision.
Recently the ALICE collaboration has observed an interesting systematic behaviour of ratios of identified particles to pions yields at the LHC, showing that they depend solely on the charged-particle multiplicity in pp, pPb and PbPb collisions. In pa rticular, the yields of (multi)strange particles relative to pions, increases with multiplicity and the enhancement is mode pronounced with increasing strangeness content. We will argue, that such a pattern of arises naturally in the thermal model taking into account exact strangeness conservation. Furthermore, extending the thermal model by including hadron interactions within the S-matrix approach, the ALICE data can be well quantified by the thermal particle yields at the chiral-crossover temperature, as previously found in central Pb-Pb collisions.
In this paper, production of ${rm W}^{pm}$ and ${rm Z}^{0}$ vector bosons in p-p, p-Pb (Pb-p), and Pb-Pb collisions at $sqrt{s_{rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV is dynamically simulated with a parton and hadron cascade model PACIAE. ALICE data of ${rm Z}^{0}$ produ ction is found to be reproduced fairly well. A prediction for ${rm W}^{pm}$ production is given in the same collision systems, at the same energy and at the same energy. An interesting isospin-effect is observed in the sign-change of $mu^{pm}$ charge asymmetry in pp, pn, np, and nn collisions and in minimum bias p-Pb, Pb-p and Pb-Pb collisions at $sqrt{s_{rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV, respectively.
Azimuthal particle correlations have been extensively studied in the past at various collider energies in p-p, p-A, and A-A collisions. Hadron-correlation measurements in heavy-ion collisions have mainly focused on studies of collective (flow) effect s at low-$p_T$ and parton energy loss via jet quenching in the high-$p_T$ regime. This was usually done without event-by-event particle identification. In this paper, we present two-particle correlations with identified trigger hadrons and identified associated hadrons at mid-rapidity in Monte Carlo generated events. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of quantum number conservation and the flavour balance during parton fragmentation and hadronization. The simulated p-p events were generated with PYTHIA 6.4 with the Perugia-0 tune at $sqrt{s}=7$ TeV. HIJING was used to generate $0-10%$ central Pb-Pb events at $sqrt{s_{rm NN}}=2.76$ TeV. We found that the extracted identified associated hadron spectra for charged pion, kaon, and proton show identified trigger-hadron dependent splitting. Moreover, the identified trigger-hadron dependent correlation functions vary in different $p_T$ bins, which may show the presence of collective/nuclear effects.
