The reaction 11B(p, 3${alpha}$) is relevant for fields as diverse as material science, nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, and fusion science. However, for the channel proceeding via the ground state of 8Be, the available cross-section data shows large discrepancies of both normalization and energy scale. The present paper reports on a measurement of the 11B(p, ${alpha_0}$) cross section using an array of modern large area segmented silicon detectors and low beam current on an enriched thin target with the aim of resolving the discrepancies amongst previous measurements.

We present new data for angular distributions and on the cross section ratio of the p + d -> 3He + eta reaction at excess energies of Q = 48.8 MeV and Q = 59.8 MeV. The data have been obtained at the WASA-at-COSY experiment (Forschungszentrum Julich) using a proton beam and a deuterium pellet target. While the shape of obtained angular distributions show only a slow variation with the energy, the new results indicate a distinct and unexpected total cross section fluctuation between Q = 20 MeV and Q = 60 MeV, which might indicate the variation of the production mechanism within this energy interval.

As suggested in a Comment by Peters, Phys. Rev. C {bf 96}, 029801 (2017), a correction is applied to the $^{13}$C($alpha$,n)$^{16}$O data of Harissopulos {it et al.}, Phys. Rev. C {bf 72}, 062801(R) (2005). The correction refers to the energy-depende nt efficiency of the neutron detector and appears only above the ($alpha$,n$_1$) threshold of the $^{13}$C($alpha$,n)$^{16}$O reaction at about $E_alpha approx 5$ MeV. The corrected data are lower than the original data by almost a factor of two. The correction method is verified using recent neutron spectroscopy data and data from the reverse $^{16}$O(n,$alpha$)$^{13}$C reaction.
The total cross section for p-d breakup is studied in terms of the elastic S-matrix through the unitary condition. Calculations using the complex Kohn variational method along with the Pair Correlated Hyperspherical Harmonic basis are presented. The results have been restricted to energies below Ep=30 MeV where Coulomb effects are expected to be sizable and are compared to the existing data. Two different measurements have been found in the literature: 40 years ago, Gibbons and Macklin (1959); and 26 years ago, Carlosn et al. (1973). The calculations are found to be in reasonable agreement with these old data, though a discrepancy is observed near the deuteron breakup threshold. Moreover, a detailed analysis of the contributions to the observable from different partial waves has been presented. Unexpectedly, the main contribution for a wide range of energies has been detected in the J=3/2- state.

Kr83m with a short lifetime is an ideal calibration source for liquid xenon or liquid argon detector. The 83mKr isomer can be generated through the decay of Rb83 isotope, and Rb83 is usually produced by proton beams bombarding natural krypton atoms. In this paper, we report a successful production of Rb83/Kr83m with 3.4 MeV proton beam energy and measure the production rate with such low proton energy for the first time. Another production attempt was performed with newly available 20 MeV proton beam in China, the production rate is consistent with our expectation. The produced Kr83m source has been successfully injected into PandaX-II liquid xenon detector and yielded enough statistics for detector calibration.
A study of the reaction pi+ + d --> p + p has been performed in the energy range of 18 - 44 MeV. Total cross sections and differential cross sections at six angles have been measured at 15 energies with an energy increment of 1 - 2 MeV. This is the m ost systematic data set in this energy range. No structure in the energy dependence of the cross section has been observed within the accuracy of this experiment.
