We propose a new chirality-imbalance phenomenon arising in baryonic/high dense matters under a magnetic field. A locally chiral-imbalanced (parity-odd) domain can be created due to the electromagnetically induced $U(1)_A$ anomaly in high-dense matters. The proposed local-chiral imbalance generically possesses a close relationship to a spacial distribution of an inhomogeneous chiral (pion)-vector current coupled to the magnetic field. To demonstrate such a nontrivial correlation, we take the skyrmion crystal approach to model baryonic/high dense matters. Remarkably enough, we find the chirality-imbalance distribution takes a wave form in a high density region (dobbed ``chiral-imbalance density wave), when the inhomogeneous chiral condensate develops to form a chiral density wave. This implies the emergence of a nontrivial density wave for the explicitly broken $U(1)_A$ current simultaneously with the chiral density wave for the spontaneously broken chiral-flavor current. We further find that the topological phase transition in the skyrmion crystal model (between skyrmion and half-skyrmion phases) undergoes the deformation of the chiral-imbalance density wave in shape and periodicity. The emergence of this chiral-imbalance density wave could give a crucial contribution to studies on the chiral phase transition, as well as the nuclear matter structure, in compact stars under a magnetic field.

We formulate kaon condensation in dense baryonic matter with anti-kaons fluctuating from the Fermi-liquid fixed point. This entails that in the Wilsonian RG approach, the decimation is effectuated in the baryonic sector to the Fermi surface while in the meson sector to the origin. In writing the kaon-baryon (KN) coupling, we will take a generalized hidden local symmetry Lagrangian for the meson sector endowed with a mended symmetry that has the unbroken symmetry limit at high density in which the Goldstone $pi$, scalar $s$, and vectors $rho$ (and $omega$) and $a_1$ become massless. The vector mesons $rho$ (and $omega$) and $a_1$ can be identified as emergent (hidden) local gauge fields and the scalar $s$ as the dilaton field of the spontaneously broken scale invariance at chiral restoration. In matter-free space, when the vector mesons and the scalar meson -- whose masses are much greater than that of the pion -- are integrated out, then the resulting KN coupling Lagrangian consists of the leading chiral order ($O(p^1)$) Weinberg-Tomozawa term and the next chiral order ($O(p^2)$) $Sigma_{KN}$ term. In addressing kaon condensation in dense nuclear matter in chiral perturbation theory (ChPT), one makes an expansion in the small Fermi momentum $k_F$. We argue that in the Wilsonian RG formalism with the Fermi-liquid fixed point, the expansion is on the contrary in $1/k_F$ with the large Fermi momentum $k_F$. The kaon-quasinucleon interaction resulting from integrating out the massive mesons consists of a relevant term from the scalar exchange (analog to the $Sigma_{KN}$ term) and an irrelevant term from the vector-meson exchange (analog to the Weinberg-Tomozawa term). It is found that the critical density predicted by the latter approach, controlled by the relevant term, is three times less than that predicted by chiral perturbation theory.
It is expected that in a hot QCD system, a local parity-odd domain can be produced due to nonzero chirality, which is induced from the difference of winding numbers carried by the gluon topological configuration (QCD sphaleron). This local domain is called the chiral-imbalance medium characterized by nonzero chiral chemical potential, which can be interpreted as the time variation of the strong CP phase. We find that the chiral chemical potential generates the parity breaking term in the electromagnetic form factor of charged pions. Heavy ion collision experiments could observe the phenomenological consequence of this parity-odd form factor through the elastic scattering of a pion and a photon in the medium. Then we quantify the asymmetry rate of the parity violation by measuring the polarization of the photon associated with the pion, and discuss how it could be measured in a definite lab frame. We roughly estimate the typical size of the asymmetry, just by picking up the pion resonant process, and find that the signal can be sufficiently larger than possible background events from parity-breaking electroweak process. Our findings might provide a novel possibility to make a manifest detection for the remnant of the strong CP violation.
In this paper, we study the possibility of an inhomogeneous quark condensate in the 1+1 dimensional Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model in the large-$N_c$ limit at finite temperature $T$ and quark chemical potential $mu$ using dimensional regularization. The ph ase diagram in the $mu$--$T$ plane is mapped out. At zero temperature, an inhomogeneous phase with a chiral-density wave exists for all values of $mu>mu_c$. Performing a Ginzburg-Landau analysis, we show that in the chiral limit, the critical point and the Lifschitz point coincide. We also consider the competition between a chiral-density wave and a constant pion condensate at finite isospin chemical potential $mu_I$. The phase diagram in the $mu_I$--$mu$ plane is mapped out and shows a rich phase structure.
We review the status as regards the existence of three- and four-body bound states made of neutrons and $Lambda$ hyperons. For interesting cases, the coupling to neutral baryonic systems made of charged particles of different strangeness has been add ressed. There are strong arguments showing that the $Lambda nn$ system has no bound states. $LambdaLambda nn$ strong stable states are not favored by our current knowledge of the strangeness $-1$ and $-2$ baryon-baryon interactions. However, a possible $Xi^- t$ quasibound state decaying to $LambdaLambda nn$ might exist in nature. Similarly, there is a broad agreement about the nonexistence of $LambdaLambda n$ bound states. However, the coupling to $Xi NN$ states opens the door to a resonance above the $LambdaLambda n$ threshold.

Chiral symmetry imposes some constrains on hadron correlation functions in dense medium. These constraints imply a certain general structure of the two- and three-point correlation functions of chiral partners and lead to the effect of mixing arising from the interaction of the long-ranged nuclear pions with corresponding interpolating currents. It reflects the phenomena of partial restoration of chiral symmetry. We consider soft pion corrections for quark condensates and several possible pairs of chiral partners for both mesons and nucleons and analyse their mixing patterns. We explored both naive and mirror assignments for the chiral partner of nucleon and discussed possible phenomenological consequence.
