In this short note we reconsider the integrable case of the Hamiltonian N-species Volterra system, as it has been introduced by Vito Volterra in 1937. In the first part, we discuss the corresponding conserved quantities, and comment about the solutions of the equations of motion. In the second part we focus our attention on the properties of the simplest model, in particular on period and frequencies of the periodic orbits. The discussion and the results presented here are to be viewed as a complement to a more general work, devoted to the construction of a global stationary state model for a sustainable economy in the Hamiltonian formalism.

We investigate integrability of Euler-Lagrange equations associated with 2D second-order Lagrangians of the form begin{equation*} int f(u_{xx},u_{xy},u_{yy}) dxdy. end{equation*} By deriving integrability conditions for the Lagrangian density $f$, ex amples of integrable Lagrangians expressible via elementary functions, Jacobi theta functions and dilogarithms are constructed. A link of second-order integrable Lagrangians to WDVV equations is established. Generalisations to 3D second-order integrable Lagrangians are also discussed.

Quantum deformations of the structure constants for a class of associative noncommutative algebras are studied. It is shown that these deformations are governed by the quantum central systems which has a geometrical meaning of vanishing Riemann curva ture tensor for Christoffel symbols identified with the structure constants. A subclass of isoassociative quantum deformations is described by the oriented associativity equation and, in particular, by the WDVV equation. It is demonstrated that a wider class of weakly (non)associative quantum deformations is connected with the integrable soliton equations too. In particular, such deformations for the three-dimensional and infinite-dimensional algebras are described by the Boussinesq equation and KP hierarchy, respectively.
Kahan discretization is applicable to any system of ordinary differential equations on $mathbb R^n$ with a quadratic vector field, $dot{x}=f(x)=Q(x)+Bx+c$, and produces a birational map $xmapsto widetilde{x}$ according to the formula $(widetilde{x}-x )/epsilon=Q(x,widetilde{x})+B(x+widetilde{x})/2+c$, where $Q(x,widetilde{x})$ is the symmetric bilinear form corresponding to the quadratic form $Q(x)$. When applied to integrable systems, Kahan discretization preserves integrability much more frequently than one would expect a priori, however not always. We show that in some cases where the original recipe fails to preserve integrability, one can adjust coefficients of the Kahan discretization to ensure its integrability.
We classify 2+1 dimensional integrable systems with nonlocality of the intermediate long wave type. Links to the 2+1 dimensional waterbag system are established. Dimensional reductions of integrable systems constructed in this paper provide dispers ive regularisations of hydrodynamic equations governing propagation of long nonlinear waves in a shear flow with piecewise linear velocity profile (for special values of vorticities).
An integrable semi-discretization of the Camassa-Holm equation is presented. The keys of its construction are bilinear forms and determinant structure of solutions of the CH equation. Determinant formulas of $N$-soliton solutions of the continuous an d semi-discrete Camassa-Holm equations are presented. Based on determinant formulas, we can generate multi-soliton, multi-cuspon and multi-soliton-cuspon solutions. Numerical computations using the integrable semi-discrete Camassa-Holm equation are performed. It is shown that the integrable semi-discrete Camassa-Holm equation gives very accurate numerical results even in the cases of cuspon-cuspon and soliton-cuspon interactions. The numerical computation for an initial value condition, which is not an exact solution, is also presented.
