We report the first confirmation of a hot Jupiter discovered by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission: HD 202772A b. The transit signal was detected in the data from TESS Sector 1, and was confirmed to be of planetary origin through radial-velocity measurements. HD 202772A b is orbiting a mildly evolved star with a period of 3.3 days. With an apparent magnitude of V = 8.3, the star is among the brightest known to host a hot Jupiter. Based on the 27days of TESS photometry, and radial velocity data from the CHIRON and HARPS spectrographs, the planet has a mass of 1.008+/-0.074 M_J and radius of 1.562+/-0.053 R_J , making it an inflated gas giant. HD 202772A b is a rare example of a transiting hot Jupiter around a quickly evolving star. It is also one of the most strongly irradiated hot Jupiters currently known.

We report the discovery of KELT-12b, a highly inflated Jupiter-mass planet transiting a mildly evolved host star. We identified the initial transit signal in the KELT-North survey data and established the planetary nature of the companion through pre cise follow-up photometry, high-resolution spectroscopy, precise radial velocity measurements, and high-resolution adaptive optics imaging. Our preferred best-fit model indicates that the $V = 10.64$ host, TYC 2619-1057-1, has $T_{rm eff} = 6278 pm 51$ K, $log{g_star} = 3.89^{+0.054}_{-0.051}$, and [Fe/H] = $0.19^{+0.083}_{-0.085}$, with an inferred mass $M_{star} = 1.59^{+0.071}_{-0.091} M_odot$ and radius $R_star = 2.37 pm 0.18 R_odot$. The planetary companion has $M_{rm P} = 0.95 pm 0.14 M_{rm J}$, $R_{rm P} = 1.79^{+0.18}_{-0.17} R_{rm J}$, $log{g_{rm P}} = 2.87^{+0.097}_{-0.098}$, and density $rho_{rm P} = 0.21^{+0.075}_{-0.054}$ g cm$^{-3}$, making it one of the most inflated giant planets known. The time of inferior conjunction in ${rm BJD_{TDB}}$ is $2457088.692055 pm 0.0009$ and the period is $P = 5.0316144 pm 0.0000306$ days. Despite the relatively large separation of $sim0.07$ AU implied by its $sim 5.03$-day orbital period, KELT-12b receives significant flux of $2.93^{+0.33}_{-0.30} times 10^9$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ from its host. We compare the radii and insolations of transiting gas-giant planets around hot ($T_{rm eff} geq 6250$ K) and cool stars, noting that the observed paucity of known transiting giants around hot stars with low insolation is likely due to selection effects. We underscore the significance of long-term ground-based monitoring of hot stars and space-based targeting of hot stars with the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) to search for inflated giants in longer-period orbits.
In this paper, we aim to characterize a transiting planetary candidate in the southern skies found in the combined MASCARA and bRing data sets of HD 85628, an A3V star of V = 8.2 mag at a distance 172 pc, to confirm its planetary nature. The candidat e was originally detected in data obtained jointly with the MASCARA and bRing instruments using a BLS search for transit events. Further photometry was taken by the 0.7 m CHAT, and radial velocity measurements with FIDEOS on the ESO 1.0 m Telescope. High resolution spectra during a transit were taken with CHIRON on the SMARTS 1.5 m telescope to target the Doppler shadow of the candidate. We confirm the existence of a hot Jupiter transiting the bright A3V star HD 85628, which we co-designate as MASCARA-4b and bRing-1b. It is in a 2.824 day orbit, with an estimated planet radius of $1.53 ^{0.07}_{0.04}$ $R_{rm{Jup}}$ and an estimated planet mass of $3.1 pm 0.9$ $M_{rm{Jup}}$, putting it well within the planet mass regime.. The CHAT observations show a partial transit, reducing the probability that the transit was around a faint background star. The CHIRON observations show a clear Doppler shadow, implying that the transiting object is in a retrograde orbit with $|lambda| = 247.5 pm 1.6 $textdegree. The planet orbits at at a distance of 0.047 $pm$ 0.004 AU from the star and has a zero-albedo equilibrium temperature of 2100 $pm$ 100 K. In addition, we find that HD 85628 has a previously unreported stellar companion star in the Gaia DR2 data demonstrating common proper motion and parallax at 4.3 arcsecond separation (projected separation $sim$740 AU), and with absolute magnitude consistent with being a K/M dwarf.
We report the discovery of MASCARA-1 b, the first exoplanet discovered with the Multi-site All-Sky CAmeRA (MASCARA). It is a hot Jupiter orbiting a bright $m_V=8.3$, rapidly rotating ($vsin i_star > 100~rm{km~s}^{-1}$) A8 star with a period of $2.148 780pm8times10^{-6} ~rm{days}$. The planet has a mass and radius of $3.7pm0.9~rm{M}_{rm{Jup}}$ and $1.5pm0.3~rm{R}_{rm{Jup}}$, respectively. As with most hot Jupiters transiting early-type stars we find a misalignment between the planet orbital axis and the stellar spin axis, which may be signature of the formation and migration histories of this family of planets. MASCARA-1 b has a mean density of $1.5pm0.9~rm{g~cm^{-3}}$ and an equilibrium temperature of $2570^{+50}_{-30}~rm{K}$, one of the highest temperatures known for a hot Jupiter to date. The system is reminiscent of WASP-33, but the host star lacks apparent delta-scuti variations, making the planet an ideal target for atmospheric characterization. We expect this to be the first of a series of hot Jupiters transiting bright early-type stars that will be discovered by MASCARA.
We present the discovery of a hot Jupiter transiting an F star in a close visual (0.3 sky projected angular separation) binary system. The dilution of the host stars light by the nearly equal magnitude stellar companion (~ 0.5 magnitudes fainter) sig nificantly affects the derived planetary parameters, and if left uncorrected, leads to an underestimate of the radius and mass of the planet by 10% and 60%, respectively. Other published exoplanets, which have not been observed with high-resolution imaging, could similarly have unresolved stellar companions and thus have incorrectly derived planetary parameters. Kepler-14b (KOI-98) has a period of P = 6.790 days and correcting for the dilution, has a mass of Mp = 8.40 +0.19-0.18 MJ and a radius of Rp = 1.136 +0.073-0.054 RJ, yielding a mean density of rho = 7.1 +- 1.1 g cm-3.
We report the discovery of KELT-2Ab, a hot Jupiter transiting the bright (V=8.77) primary star of the HD 42176 binary system. The host is a slightly evolved late F-star likely in the very short-lived blue-hook stage of evolution, with $teff=6148pm48{ rm K}$, $log{g}=4.030_{-0.026}^{+0.015}$ and $feh=0.034pm0.78$. The inferred stellar mass is $M_*=1.314_{-0.060}^{+0.063}$msun and the star has a relatively large radius of $R_*=1.836_{-0.046}^{+0.066}$rsun. The planet is a typical hot Jupiter with period $4.11379pm0.00001$ days and a mass of $M_P=1.524pm0.088$mj and radius of $R_P=1.290_{-0.050}^{+0.064}$rj. This is mildly inflated as compared to models of irradiated giant planets at the $sim$4 Gyr age of the system. KELT-2A is the third brightest star with a transiting planet identified by ground-based transit surveys, and the ninth brightest star overall with a transiting planet. KELT-2Abs mass and radius are unique among the subset of planets with $V<9$ host stars, and therefore increases the diversity of bright benchmark systems. We also measure the relative motion of KELT-2A and -2B over a baseline of 38 years, robustly demonstrating for the first time that the stars are bound. This allows us to infer that KELT-2B is an early K-dwarf. We hypothesize that through the eccentric Kozai mechanism KELT-2B may have emplaced KELT-2Ab in its current orbit. This scenario is potentially testable with Rossiter-McLaughlin measurements, which should have an amplitude of $sim$44 m s$^{-1}$.
