The electronic-structural modulations of Ir$_{1-x}$Pt$_x$Te$_2$ (0 $leqq xleqq$ 0.12) have been examined by resonant elastic x-ray scattering (REXS) and resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) techniques at both the Ir and Te edges. Charge-density-wave-like superstructure with wave vectors of $mathbf{Q}$=(1/5 0 $-$1/5), (1/8 0 $-$1/8), and (1/6 0 $-$1/6) are observed on the same sample of IrTe$_2$ at the lowest temperature, the patterns of which are controlled by the cooling speeds. In contrast, superstructures around $mathbf{Q}$=(1/5 0 $-$1/5) are observed for doped samples (0.02 $leqq xleqq$ 0.05). The superstructure reflections persist to higher Pt substitution than previously assumed, demonstrating that a charge density wave (CDW) can coexists with superconductivity. The analysis of the energy-dependent REXS and RIXS lineshape reveals the importance of the Te 5$p$ state rather than the Ir 5$d$ states in the formation of the spatial modulation of these systems. The phase diagram re-examined in this work suggests that the CDW incommensurability may correlate the emergence of superconducting states as-like Cu$_x$TiSe$_2$ and Li$_x$TaS$_2$.

Pressure-dependent transport measurements of Ir$_{1-x}$Pt$_x$Te$_2$ are reported. With increasing pressure, the structural phase transition at high temperatures is enhanced while its superconducting transition at low temperatures is suppressed. These pressure effects make Ir$_{1-x}$Pt$_x$Te$_2$ distinct from other studied $T$X$_2$ systems exhibiting a charge density wave (CDW) state, in which pressure usually suppresses the CDW state and enhances the superconducting state. The results reveal that the emergence of superconductivity competes with the stabilization of the low temperature monoclinic phase in Ir$_{1-x}$Pt$_x$Te$_2$.

Element-specific x-ray resonant magnetic scattering investigations were performed to determine the magnetic structure of Eu in EuRh2As2. In the temperature range from 46 K down to 6 K, an incommensurate antiferromagnetic (ICM)structure with a tempera ture dependent propagation vector (0 0 0.9) coexists with a commensurate antiferromagnetic (CM) structure. Angular-dependent measurements of the magnetic intensity indicate that the magnetic moments lie in the tetragonal basal plane and are ferromagnetically aligned within the a-b plane for both magnetic structures. The ICM structure is a spiral-like magnetic structure with a turn angle of 162 deg between adjacent Eu planes. In the CM structure, this angle is 180 deg. These results are consistent with band-structure calculations which indicate a strong sensitivity of the magnetic configuration on the Eu valence.

We have employed the x-ray resonant magnetic scattering (XRMS) technique at the Ru $L_2$ edge of the Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Ru$_x$)$_2$As$_2$ ($x = 0.205$) superconductor. We show that pronounced resonance enhancements at the Ru $L_2$ edge are observed at the wave vector which is consistent with the antiferromagnetic propagation vector of the Fe in the undoped BaFe$_2$As$_2$. We also demonstrate that the XRMS signals at the Ru $L_2$ edge follow the magnetic ordering of the Fe with a long correlation length, $xi_{ab} > 2850pm400$ AA . Our experimental observation shows that the Ru is spin-polarized in Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Ru$_x$)$_2$As$_2$ compounds.

The interplay between superconductivity and Eu$ ^{2+}$ magnetic moments in EuFe$_2$(As$_{1-x}$P$_x$)$_2$ is studied by electrical resistivity measurements under hydrostatic pressure on $x=0.13$ and $x=0.18$ single crystals. We can map hydrostatic pre ssure to chemical pressure $x$ and show, that superconductivity is confined to a very narrow range $0.18leq x leq 0.23$ in the phase diagram, beyond which ferromagnetic (FM) Eu ordering suppresses superconductivity. The change from antiferro- to FM Eu ordering at the latter concentration coincides with a Lifshitz transition and the complete depression of iron magnetic order.

We report a Cu K-edge resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) study of high-Tc cuprates. Momentum-resolved charge excitations in the CuO2 plane are examined from parent Mott insulators to carrier-doped superconductors. The Mott gap excitation in u ndoped insulators is found to commonly show a larger dispersion along the [pi,pi] direction than the [pi,0] direction. On the other hand, the resonance condition displays material dependence. Upon hole doping, the dispersion of the Mott gap excitation becomes weaker and an intraband excitation appears as a continuum intensity below the gap at the same time. In the case of electron doping, the Mott gap excitation is prominent at the zone center and a dispersive intraband excitation is observed at finite momentum transfer.
