The LHC experiments have reported new results with respect to the dynamics of the strong interactions in $pp$, $p$A, and AA collisions over the past years. In proton-proton collisions, the data analyses have focused in exploring the nature of underlying events and double parton scattering at high energies. For large systems, the heavy-ion collisions have provided new insights on physics aspects related to azimuthal correlations, jet quenching, and particle production, such as antiprotons. This Letter reports the recent results from the ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb Collaborations on these various topics and highlights its relevant findings for the high-energy community.

Results from recent soft QCD measurements by LHC experiments ALICE, ATLAS, CMS, LHCb, LHCf and TOTEM are reported. The measurements include total, elastic and inelastic cross sections, inclusive and identified particle spectra, underlying event and h adronic chains. Results from particle correlations in all three collision systems, namely pp, pPb and PbPb, exhibit unexpected similarities.
A very light (GeV scale) dark gauge boson ($Z$) is a recently highlighted hypothetical particle that can address some astrophysical anomalies as well as the $3.6 sigma$ deviation in the muon $g$-2 measurement. We suggest top quark decays as a venue t o search for light dark force carriers at the LHC. Such $Z$s can be easily boosted, and they can decay into highly collimated leptons (lepton-jet) with large branching ratio. We investigate a scenario where a top quark decays to $b W$ accompanied by one or multiple dark force carriers and find that such a scenario could be easily probed at the early stage of LHC Run 2.
We present a summary of the most recent measurements relevant to Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) delivered by the D0 and CDF Tevatron experiments by May 2008. CDF and D0 are moving toward precision measurements of QCD based on data samples in excess of 1 fb-1. The inclusive jet cross sections have been extended to forward rapidity regions and measured with unprecedented precision following improvements in the jet energy calibration. Results on dijet mass distributions, bbbar dijet production using tracker based triggers, underlying event in dijet and Drell-Yan samples, inclusive photon and diphoton cross sections complete the list of measurements included in this paper. Good agreement with pQCD within errors is observed for jet production measurements. An improved and consistent theoretical description is needed for photon+jets processes. Collisions at the LHC are scheduled for early fall 2008, opening an era of discoveries at the new energy frontier, 5-7 times higher than that of the Tevatron.
The study of QCD processes at the LHC will serve two main goals. First, the predictions of Quantum Chromodynamics will be tested and precision measurements will be performed, allowing additional constraints to be established, and providing measuremen ts of the strong coupling constant. Second, QCD processes represent a major part of the background to other Standard Model processes and signals of new physics at the LHC and therefore need to be understood in depth. An overview of various measurements of QCD-related processes to be performed at the LHC is presented, based on final states containing high-pT leptons, photons and jets. Moreover, possible deviations from QCD predictions indicating presence of new physics are discussed.
We perform a Taylor series expansion of Tsallis distribution by assuming the Tsallis parameter $q$ close to 1. The $q$ value shows the deviation of a system from a thermalised Boltzmann distribution. By taking up to first order in $(q-1)$, we derive an analytical result for Tsallis distribution including radial flow. Further, in the present work, we also study the speed of sound ($c_s$) as a function of temperature using the non-extensive Tsallis statistics for different $q$ values and for different mass cut-offs.
